folks, showdown. Lets one up an LP to a Strat. the rule is you can only choose one and say why you like it better than the other. doesnt mean the other is bad.
compare a quot;regularquot; LP (as in 2 humbucker etc ect ) to a quot;regularquot; strat (3 single coil etc etc). none of those quot;superquot; stuff.
and btw LP gt; strat.
Gotta go LP. By a hair.
LP has a 24.75 scale which is more comfy to me than the 25.5 on a strat. i also enjoy the humbucker in the neck a tad more than a single coil in the neck in a strat.
Silliness. What's better, blue or red? Neither, they're just different and they both have their place.
strat gt; LP
more versatile
so much fun to hotrod
clean sound craps on the LP
the inbetween sounds are great
doesn't hurt your ribs when playing
comes with a decent tremelo as standard
you can replace any of the parts on it with warmoth ones
they look better when they've got all worn and paint comes off

yep, one on stage and one in the trash can. j/k. its a quot;funquot; discussion thread Rob.
if i had to pick one, it would be a LP. but in all honesty,i like the feel and the playabilty of a strat, but love the tone and fullness of a LP.that's why i'm building a warmoth custom.(mahogany strat body with HxH) we'll see what happens...............................
Different tools for different sounds.... but i do tend to have a lot of STRATS! too many, er or is that not enough.... think i should be looking at more Gibson sometimes...
Tele gt; everything.
i'll take a PRS McCarty
Stevie Ray Vaughan once said that the difference between a Gibson and a Fender is that when you drop a Gibson, it breaks.
strats are good, les pauls are bad. no ifs, ands, or buts.
lol @ SRV
I'm completely on the 50 yard line. Strats and Pauls are all I use normally.
I think Les Pauls are better guitars, but the strats let the player shine through more, and have more character to the notes, as well as more tonal variety.
I can't choose, so I've got 3 of each.
Jazz bridge/2 Ant II Surfers
Chubtone El Gordo/2 Chubtone 63's. Nails SRV tone to a T
Fender CS Fat 50's. Fender's best pickups, IMO.50th Anniversary Seth Lovers, engraved on honeyflame. C-5/59 on Goldtop
35th Anniversary Black Beauty Custom w/gold Custom 5/59n/59n
I prefer the strat scale and heel, but the LP's wood, weight, tone bridge, toggle switch, and radius better.
I really enjoy playing strats, but les pauls sound better... so hard to choose.
It probably be strats because they are fairer priced then les pauls. But priceing aside, I'd go a les paul any day.
GJ, Your first Strat on your last LP (in the pics) rock my world!
For me, I am a Strat man. Even though I have just bought an LP Custom which blows me away. It's probably the versatility of it that gets me. I agree with the thread creator in every respect about the Strat.
Tone-wise, they both have their merits, and uses really. To me, they are two extremes, and it's good to have one of each.
I guess, I'd rather be seen onstage with a Strat than an LP.

Let me know when you no longer have any use for this one!
By the way, is that an ice-tea Standard?
SG..... err I mean Les Paul
I really like them both but if push comes to shove, it's the LP hands-down, because (and in no particular order):
TANGIBLE REASONS:
1) That big, beefy, manly tone, that even other humbucker guitars can't quite capture, and still be as clear and articulate as a good Lester is. Strats just can't do it.
2) 24.75quot; scale gives it a softer and more playable feel, and contributes to said manly tone. I can deal with 25.5quot; Strat but prefer the LP.
3) The killer flame-burst finishes -- or the black-n-gold of those Customs. Strats having that pickguard in the way of most of the wood can't ever show off as much killer wood.
SEMI TO INTANGIBLE
1) The weight of the LP. I'm a bigger guy so 10 lbs. doesn't bother me much, and I like the feel of the heavy guitar -- makes others seem like toys.
2) The classiest, most majestic-looking solidbody design of all time.
3) That's the one Pagey and all the other greats were playing when I was coming up.
4) I'm not exactly quot;ashamedquot; of having a Strat strapped on me in public, but the LP is the guitar I would rather be seen with on stage. (Or my 355.)
