What pickups do you like that come stock? I'm not referring to guitars come stock with Duncans or Dimarzios et. al, but pickups made by the companies that make the guitar.

I find the stock BC Rich pickups are quite good altogether. I've got a Mockingbird there and I haven't bothered putting anything else in there because the stocks sound just fine.

Believe it or not, some of the stock pickups in some of my Epiphone Les Pauls aren't bad at all.

The mid 80's MIA Peavey Patriot comes with these cool rails, called quot;Super Ferritesquot;. They're sorta like rails versions of Phat Cats. Very chimey, very nice. They were used for my first clip I posted here.

They're actually very nice pups.

I hear the stock pickups in '58-'60 Les Pauls weren't too bad. Even so, plenty of people replaced them with DiMarzios in the '70s. How else can you explain all the disembodied PAFs for sale on Ebay?

the stock pickups in my Jimmy Vaughan Strat are great! I also love Guild humbuckers form the 70's...they are amazing!

i think the only stock pickups i liked (aside from stock duncan dmz and emg) would be PRS...and gibson has a few decent ones but nothing beats a good duncan, dmz or emg!

I had that same guitar in naturally stained finish. It had a very straight, flat neck. First guitar I ever swapped PU's in. A DD in the bridge and a JB in the neck.

Far out, solid, and all right.

I've got a few Les Pauls with the 57 Classics in them. I like both of them in my 2001, but I replaced the bridge with a JB in my '98. Some people say they're too quot;ice pick-yquot; or some say they're too muddy, for the most part they're fine by me.

I also think that the stock Tex Mex pups on the Jimmie Vaughan Strat are great. No reason to change them.

The PRS SE soapbars are outstanding!!!!!!!! I put Duncans in it and they were good but, I quickly re-installed the PRS P-90'S.

The Gotoh pup in my Performance sounds awesome. It must be stock, it has the Performance logo on it.

Definitely not the single coils in Epiphone strats. They're painfully bright.

The stock single coils in my PV Predator were decent, but I wanted a Hbucker and rails.

My Jackson came with SDs.

I got a dearmond starfire that came with some pretty good stock pickups, haven't had a reason to change em yet.

I played a friend's Fender Strat Plus (90s) with gold fender lace sensors recently. I found these surprisingly good, given that I had played a strat with red/silver/blue lace sensors a few years ago and didn't care for these lace. The golds definately sounded as good to me as my duncan APS2s, but definately different.

Always loved a strat that came stock with Texas Specials; played a few, but never owned one, though.

I agree on the stock Epiphone Les Paul pickups. I don't know about current models, but I played a quite a few in my local store when shopping for a guitar a year or two ago and I was really surprised. Very quot;classic Les Paulquot; sounding to me.

Old vintage Les Pauls and Strats always sound good stock!

My biggest surpise was the sound from an early Peavey Raptor I picked up (cheap, cheap strat copy). It played really well and the pickups were way better (warmer and beefier) than the typical Squier and MIM Fender pickups. The plywood body put a big damper on the sustain, though...
