I know what my goals are, but they are hard to describe. And I am going to have to describe them to my teacher. How would you explain your goals to a new teacher if they were along these lines:
Electric Slide guitar ala Duane Allman. Electric Blues ala Clapton/Hendrix/SRV/Peter Green/etc
Poppier music ala John Mayer.
Acoustic Blues ala Keb' Mo'
Acoustic flat picking ala Hootie and the Blowfish/Counting Crows/Jack Johnson
I want to learn to create my own music and improvise in those styles, how would you explain that to a teacher.
Have u choosen u'r teacher according to u'r goals? If u have, u'r goals shouldn't be to hard to translate to him/her.

Thats a great point man. I was really stuck in a rut in my playing for years because of what my teacher actually taught and I really didn't understand how to play otherwise.
i have no teacher. and i don´t know nothing of theory.
ahahaha i´m a riffer.
Do yourself a favor, make sure your teacher understands those styles and can play them well. If you even get the slightest hint the guy doesn't have the goods, find another teacher. That would be goal #1.
I'm on the market for a teacher right now, anyone have some good interview questions I should ask? Right now all I've got is if they can teach/play electric slide.
