Hello! It's been a while since I've posted, but I still lurk occasionally.
I need pickup suggestions for a maple neck-thru guitar with alder wings and a floyd. I play metal in the vein of Slayer through a Marshall JCM-900 SL-X head. Currently, the guitar is equipped with a Distortion in the bridge position, which I've liked this pickup in every other guitar, including one with a bolt-on maple neck/alder body/floyd. In this guitar, however, it has a distinct lack of quot;lifequot; (for lack of a better term) and is a bit heavy on the low end.
Any suggestions?
Original Parallel Axis Trembucker or even the Distortion Trembucker. The uniqe pole piece configuration and windings really make them effective with Floyd equipped guitars. Nice and meaty with serious crunch.
application - Parallel Axis Trembucker Distortion provides modern high-output sound. Great for old school metal, nu-metal, gothic, garage, punk, thrash and other heavy rock styles.
description - A powerful ceramic magnet and over-wound coils give this pickup a huge singing tone with a clear, articulate high-end and plenty of grind on the bottom.
Thanks for the suggestions. I should have specified that the Distortion I'm using is a trembucker.I may have to give the Parallel Axis Trembucker a try. That is, unless I go to the dark side yet again (EMG's ).
how 'bout the Custom? It will be a bit cleaner and more open than the DD, while still being very aggressive.

I think Jeff was refering to the PATB-2, rather than the TB-6. Unfortunately, Duncan has had the same virtual name, for two completely different pups for a long time: The TB-6, which is the Duncan Distortion in tremspacing, and the PATB-2, which is the Distortion trembucker.
It looks like they've finally renamed it, (somewhat), on the new webpage and tone chart, by now calling it the Parallel Axis Distortion.

What about the Dimebucker? Last time I had one it was in a different guitar, and sounded kind of thin. Perhaps that would be the character I'm looking for in a guitar in which the Distortion sounds too fat...
I guess I'll find out tomorrow. That's when my Dimebucker will arrive. I'll try to record a clip.
