CAUTION: This thread contains pics of a rig so extremely metal that people with heart conditions should refrain from viewing them.
Check It Out:
Mesa/Boogie DC-10 Dual Caliber 100 watt head w/ Mesa/Boogie upright 2x12quot; cab
And of course '88 Fender HM Strat w/ DiMarzio Super Distortion
Rock On
Hell yeah! That looks killer!
Can I ask how much the 2x12 ran you?
I loves me some Mesa stuff. I've never seen a cab like that, though. Pretty cool.
Looks like a great rig! The sliders on the amp look strange, but nonetheless cool.
the cab ran me a nice $100 from a good friend
It's a great cab, but they stopped makin' 'em like that quite a while ago. Mesa only makes horizontal 2x12quot; cabs now...
Sliders are an awesome graphic EQ, which you can switch on with the lead channel or run the lead channel without 'em
Nice.
I've never seen an HM that looked like that one before. Is that an original finish?
I have an 89 HM myself....I think they're a pretty killer guitar.
They are definetly killer! yeah that's the original finish, in fact it's completly original and staying that way for now.
I'm very happy with the rig now, I also enjoy looking at pictures of it haha
anyway... gotta add the D-tuna to the HM whenever it gets here... then think about possibly buying the new Zakk Wylde wah... I dunno, I'm beginning to really like not having so many pedals.
Rock On
Looks great, KAC.
Add one to the list of HM strat owners. I've got the maple neck off my pink one at the moment while I clean it up...

Man, I was really looking for a pink one, but got an offer on this one that I couldn't pass up, and man... it plays great, someday I'll add a pink one to the arsenal!

This brings up a previous thread:
I have a Mesa DC-5 and there's just no way I'd be able to pull a metal sound out of that thing. Granted I'm not using Dimarzio Distortions and I don't know what speakers you've got in your cab (I have a 4 x 12 with Celestion Vintage 30s).

That's just crazy... because this amp literally had the BEST metal sound from any amp I have ever played.
One reason I initially liked it is because Jim Root, lead guitarist of Slipknot, used it on my personal favorite Slipknot album. That guy has some serious metal tone...
the cab has a couple different Mesa 12quot; speakers in it, but I pulled metal off through this head with I had in plugged into a 15quot; Peavey PA cabnet, and also through a Carvin horizontal 2x12quot; cabinet, so apparently it doesn't matter what cabinet or speakers I'm using, because this amp IS metal.
I really don't know why we're getting different sounds from 2 similar amps, but I know I love the sound I'm getting from mine, so I wish the same for you as well.
Rock On
Edit: My CS-3 has something to do with my unique quot;Metal Up Your A**quot; sound, you're probably not using one of them, so that would lead to us having a different sound based soley on that.
Have you ever played through a Dual Rec? I tried one the other day and got some seriously heavy sounds that are completely different from my DC-5.

Yeah, I've played one through my cabinet in fact. They're completly different amps with some serious crunch. I think my boosted mids and Compression help me get a closer sound to a dual-rec but if that was exactly what I was going for then I would just buy one of those.
I'm gonna have to try to get some sound clips up somehow to show ya the full metal massacre of the DC-10.

Absolutely!
Damn. I Love the sound people get out of Dual Calibers, Corrosion Of Conformity is a prime example of that. Nice rig.
yeah, pepper gets an incredible tone from his .50 cal
Damn, maybe I need different tubes in my DC-5. Kac, what's yours loaded with? In fact, what are the rest of the settings on your head? I'd like to try your settings on mine and see if suddenly I feel differently about it.

A friend of mine sold his Dual and bought a DC-10 a number of years ago. I think it's a pretty good, versitle amp. It's a smoother tone than the Recto if I remember correctly....and the graphic EQ made for some great metal tones.

I would have to agree with that 100%, does the DC-5 have a graphic EQ?

Sure does. That's why I'm wondering what EQ and dial settings you're using.
