Which type of modulation effect is your favorite?
You can explain why, you don't have to
And also if you want you can refer to a song that displays this effect
That's cool!
The Univibe is the only real modulation device I use...I also use some chorus for clean chording stuff...
Phaser! Never liked chorus or flanger all that much. Too tacky sounding.
Chorus easily. It can really liven up cleans to make give them a full and quot;epicquot;, quot;seriousquot; or quot;reflectivequot; sound. It has been the basis for many of the softer passages in metal and heavy rock music for the past 20 years or so. Flange and Phaser arn't nearly as useable, IMO.
Metallica, Anthrax, Megadeth, Meshuggah, Guns 'n Roses, Suicidal Tendencies, Nirvana, Pantera, Dream Theater etc. etc. etc.
I love the clean sound with chorus of Jerry Cantrell in the original version of Down in a hole (Alice in chains). Slash also use a slight chorus in Fall to pieces (Velvet revolver).
I can't describe it but I love the quality it add to a clean tone.
Chorus
i like it the best
Nirvana's CD's are full of reasons why I like the chorus and great examples of chorus.
~Rock On~
Tremolo. I HATE chorus.
I chose phaser as my favorite. I love the warm cleans you can get from them. I still like chorus and vibros though.
Vibro
flanger and chorus are exactly the same damn thing. There's no difference. Most chorus pedals just have a more tweakable control setup and less of a range than most flanger pedals.
I actually am partial to ring modulators, too, but I haven't played around with many of them, so I can't really say they're my fav. Phasers can sound SO COOL tho!! Can anyone say Helio Sequence?
quot;Helio Sequence!quot;
Seems like chorus wins on this one every time.
I like them all! I voted for Phaser, and while I think it is versatile I think I also voted for it because for me I can be pretty sure that in most situations quot;the other guitaristquot; is more likely to have a chorus or a flanger than a phaser. I like phaser for clean sounds and for distorted sounds (sometimes with the latter).
I often keep two such things on my pedal board, phaser and flanger or phaser and chorus. I'd like to eventually get a Uni-vibe type pedal.
Right now chorus. I used to play funk and a Phaser was almost essential. I had a Mutron Biphase that was great, wish I'd kept it. I really liked flanging in the late 70s and early 80s but it sounds kinda dated to me now. Chorus gives me shimmer and thickness. I also like the pitch shifter side of my chorus pedal, I use that a lot on funky stuff now.
well i like chorus coz you can get some flanger effect, but besides that the chorus adds body and nice soundings to your chording.... extra body !!!

Some subtle chorus on cleans is always a good thing.
My vote went for chorus, and I use either a Electro Harmonix Clone Chorus or a Boss CE-5 for stereo.
My question for anyone who feels like offering their opinion if they use one, is what kind of flanger do you guys prefer? I've tried a Boss, an EH Worm, and an Ibanez CF-7 (which I currently use), but they all quot;maskquot; the tone somewhat and steal too much of my original sound. Is there a pedal that's more transparent?
....Bob
I really like tremolos, but i dont have 1.
gotta be the phaser for me!!

Same here.
Chorus BUT 1 for tremelo (sp?). See quot;In Like The Rosequot; by BRMC for the latter.
