My amp is Fender Twin Reverb and have great cleans and OD sounds but I lack distortion sounds,I also have a line 6 DM-4 distortion modeler but I can't get decent distortion tones through twin reverb...I'm planning to buy a 30 watt solid amp just for distortion tones like line 6 spider 2 or get another pedal that would give better distortion through my amp, which option could be better,I'll appreciate your comments and recommendations about spider 2 and which distortion pedal could be purchased...thanx everyone...

I have the smaller Line 6 the 15 watt model and like it pretty well. I think the crunch mode has the best sound of the bunch and it's really the only one I use to tell you the truth. It's based off a plexi I think. It can get pretty distorted. The other modes with distortion are the metal mode which is based on mesa and the insane mode which has an insane amount of gain. I can't really recommend any pedal to go through your current amp, but if you want Plexi-esque distortion I think the spider 2 does a pretty good job.

well a line 6 spider II wont sound nearly as nice as a Fender Twin reverb, especially in the clean department. I would say find a good distortion or OD pedal that you can get your sound out of. I dont know what to reccomend, as there are a lot of good distortion pedals in that line 6 DM-4 moddeler, so i dont know what kind of distortion you're looking for. a little more detail into the tone you want will help us in giving you some ideas. but in the long run, id say keep your fender. it will sound better over all, and save you money.

I'm not going to replace my ampI'll get an A/B switch and use them both, for clean and OD sounds I'll use twin reverb and use spider 2 for only distortion...I have many distortion presets in line 6 dm-4 but none of them gave that fat quality distortion I look foreither the presets are not good or twin reverb isn't the amp for heavy distortion...well I guess there should be a brother coming aside my twin

You can still use fenders for badass sounds - Johnny greenwood (radiohead lead guitarist) always used a rubbishy fender SS amp, but had a Tele with lace sensor pickups and a Marshall Shredmaster in front I think that pedal is discontinued, and it wont do u much good if u don't like his tone, but get a decent pedal and I'm sure you could have cool sounds. Marshall Jackhammer, maybe? Anyone got any thoughts on that?

I'm really in need of a good distortion pedal that would give me the fat distortion tones on my twin reverb, which distortion stompboxes could be good for me?

I'd say do yourself a favor and buy a used DS-1 and send it to STRATDELUXER to have him do his magic. For about $70 you can have a sweet, fat distortion pedal.

Have you heared the Line6 ToneCore series distortion pedals (crunchtone and übermetal)? They sound quite nice and should cover spider2 sounds.

...i still say the jackhammer would be a decent buy...
