.....Thought of selling or trading away a piece of gear, you start playing around with it amp; fall in love with it all over again???
I was gonna trade my Strat away for an amp someone offered me...an amp I don't need (NEED??? Haaaa )...took it out, changed the strings, oiled the board, cleaned it up nice amp; purty amp; I've been playing it all day. What a nice guitar.................I think the guy is gonna be pissed!!!!!
Anyone else ever do this????
Sometimes, but one thing I like to do is use a different set of guitars everytime I leave the house. It forces me to be comfortable on all my guitars, and when I play'em with a band, I start to really see which guitars do the best jobs on certain things.
Sometimes I'll take a strat and paul or
Gamp;L Legacy Deluxe and PRS
Tomorrow, I'm going to finally use my Schecter Tele in a band setting. That's always been a 'stay at home' guitar so far.
GJ that's what i do also...well sort of...every rehersal for my band i bring one of my main two guitar and then another random one i feel like playing that night and switch off b/t the one i know quot;worksquot; and the other one just to change things up a bit.
i have also almost sold a guitar but backed out of the idea b/c i couldn't part with it before.

no, but i have loved a woman (ok, really bad refferance to a brian adams song)
I've done that with my amp plenty of times! I still need another amp, just for tonal versatility.
how are the cleans on the XXX DSS?
When I first got my electric guitar from my dad, I had my heart set on a strat . . . and there was this big semi-hollow thing sitting in the living room. I was sure that I would return it, but I played it for a few hours, went to the music store sure that I was going to trade it, and then realized that it was really a great guitar . . .

Nothing to write home about, that's for sure. They work, and they're clean, and that's all I need them to do with that amp.
I've thought about selling the amp so many times to pick up something more versatile and toneful, but I know I'll never be gigging (anytime soon, that is) in a band that doesn't play metal, so I don't need a more versatile amp any where near that powerful, so I'm going to keep the XXX as my metal/shred/gigging amp. So, I'm saving up for a small/medium sized combo, or maybe even head, to satisfy my other tone cravings. Currently, I'm looking at Mesa F's, but I'm going to try out the Crate V series tomorrow, as well.
a cranked deluxe reverb with a ts9 and a compressor gets a pretty insane smoothed out wailing lead tone believe it or not....

Well I'm looking for a good clean channel, good crunch sound, and to still be able to venture into high-gain territories, like my end-all prog amp. The Mesa F's I know for a fact handle this without breaking a sweat.
