Have had the Vox Tonelab for a couple of months - nice, use it for recording only. Have a couple of other gtr processors (hardware).

Guitar Rig has perked my ears. Haven't heard it in person but the premise is great. Anyone use it? I eventually want to ditch all my hardware and go totally plugin/software.

Run your Tonelab through the effects loop of your amp, turn off the cab dial, choose an amp head model you like...If you haven't done this already, you'll really get an appreciation for the Tonelab. I love it.

People are also reporting good results running modellers, like the tone lab, into Keyboard amps.

Good results have also been made from people selling their modelers and getting tube amps.

I've got both bases covered, tube amp; modeller

That was a good one!

However, I run mine through a tube amp anyway, and it's great. The amp also sounds good by itself, but using the Tonelab, I can nail the '68 Plexi tone, JCM800, etc.

But who has used Guitar Rig?????

So, it's software? You gotta have a PC on stage with you? I guess I'm missing it.

I've used the demo, to be honest, I thought it sucked ass. Terrible sounding all over IMO. It could just be because it was a demo though.

I use guitar rig just for laying down quick demo guitar tracks, or for songs where the guitar approach is more textural and less about real guitar tone. it is an AMAZING tool for recording. I don't really like the amp models though. I find it works really well to mic up an amp, record a dry track, then process that dry track with one of the presets in GuitarRig (with the amp modellers on the preset turned off). It's a really great way of keeping your tone, but getting all the added benefits of their atmospheric/spatial effects. I don't actually own any outboard effects gear, and Guitar Rig pretty much takes care of all that for me.
