I'm starting to toy around with the idea of building a 12 string Strat, and I have some thoughts about it, but was interested in some other opinions. Anybody have any thoughts on body and fretboard woods? What about neck radius?

It's sound like a big projekt that i would never start on if i were you.

If you go with a 12 string trem,too, it would be something great.

This is a new model, started in 2003, old ones had short scale - 24,75

I owe right this guitar (as shown at fender.com), so let me tell you a piece of advise: single-coil pickups, like single-sized humbuckers are not appropriate for 12string electric guitars. It is better to install full-sized humbuckers.

I totally disagree with this. I really think single coils are THE way to go for that chimey twelve string tone. HBs get way to muddy.

You know, i disliked them while using my Fender Strat with quot;nativequot; pickups. To my mind, single coils are not enough. I think they are good on Rickenbackers, where quot;chimeyquot; twelve string tone goes with the help of their hollow bodies. And also you always an split humbuckers.

It depends on what sound you would like to achieve. Write please, how do you see your future guitar, and we will discuss the combination of woods.

About neck radius. It depends on your personal preferences only. I even cant't give any advice. Sorry.
