Hello everyone, I have a question and really need your help.

I have Heritage 150 (Les Paul style guitar) that I bought used with Schaller Golden 50's pickups and I want to switch them out for Duncan's. I'm an aspiring blues player, looking for a vintage PAF sound, and have narrowed my search to 59's, Seth Lovers and Pearly Gates.

I've listened to the samples of each on the Duncan site, but unfortunately, since I have a pretty untrained ear, the suttle nuances of each of these pickups escape me.

Can you tell me the tonal (and any other) differences between these models. In addition, please tell me which model YOU play and recommend.

Thank you very much!

Sincerely,

Westley

In a LP style the PG's sounds gruesomely great, actually just played an old 60's LP where the PAF's where removed...yeah not cool, we installed a pair of PG's....Billy here we come
The 59's has more bottom and is perhaps alitte more subdued in the top end next to the PG's who has that little extra cool sizzle, the Seths are creamy and warm, has a great midrange, they sound phenomonal in 335 style guitars, also great in LP's and alike.

nice guitar, in my opinion the heritage line is better than anything gibson has nowadays. Any of those three pickups would go great for blues... my order of preference would probably be 59, Seth, then Pearly Gates.

I highly recommend the Pearly Gates for that axe.

Do a search on this forum...there was a thread just like this a few months back...it was pretty long and had lots if very good posts!

Thank you very much everyone!

Performing a search in this forum to identify a similar thread is a really great idea. I've tried several key words in the search field to find the specific thread and unfortunately, to date have remained unsuccessful.

Can you make any suggestions as to what key words I should use in the seach field to access the aforementioned thread?

Thanks again.

Sincerely,

Westley

Antiquities all the way.

I love the 59s and I had them in the guitar to the left for quite awile. I have a PGn in another LP that I absolutely love. The next set of HBs I get will be Seths.

The Antiquities are in a class all by themselves. If you want killer P.A.F. tone and want a guitar that is sweet and round clean with a warm, resonant grind under a little gain the Antys are the only way to go.
