It was the g-Flex,the thing looked killer. The speakers were angled slightly from each other slightly and it was quad ported at the bottom and the cab was really thick looking.Didn't get a chance to plug in but it is supposed to have a great low end reponse.
Anyone try one of these?

John...That was one of the 3 cabs I was looking at buying for my Vox head..That,and the Avatar 2x12 and the Vox AD2x12 which I actually bought....That cab gets great reviews from what I've read...It pumps out alot of lows and I think the cab was designed around George Lynch's desires for a ballsy 2x12 cab....

John

if i'm not mistaken TatooedCarrot has one or perhaps the 4x12 version, i forget...and Institute of Noise also uses a 2x12 g-flex i think...hopefully they will chime in...i'm also considering the 4x12 version of that since i'm in the market for a new 4x12 of some sort.

That's one of my top choices for cabs right now. What was the price? Around me they're $300-$350 used. I haven't had a chance to play one (never seen one in a store) but all the reviews are great. Everyone says it sounds as good as or better than a 4x12. I'd like to know how the G Flex 2x12 and 4x12 compare.

I use a Genz-Benz 4X12 (non-G-Flex version)with Celestion speakers. It is solid as a damn rock- very heavy. It is better than a Marshall cab but I wouldn't quite put it up there with Bogner cabs. Very good though.

I believe they call it a G-Flex because of an internal flexible baffle, that increases low end response?

Either way, they kick alot of ass.

MetalWarrior has one and loves it, hes not around here much anymore. next time i talk to him ill send him a link to this thread

How would you say it compares to a Mesa?

I'd suggest trying one before buying. It was pretty woofy with my Soldano.

Speaking of Genz-Benz, I'm interested in trying their new El Diablo 60/30 head. It got a great write up in the new GW magazine, but that brings us back to another thread!!!

It sounded pretty nice on the accompanied CD...has a very Tex-Mex thing going on.

I did try the El Diablo and it had a really smooth clean sound.Very natural.Great price for the quality.

I've used the Genz Benz G-Flex 2x12 exclusively now for about three years. I will never buy another cab.

NEVER.

During that time I have set it on stage next to every popular make and model of cabinet imaginable - G12 Loaded Marshall cabs, Mesa Recto cabs, Avatar, you name it. My little bulldog of a 2x12 has outperformed every other cab I've tried in terms of volume, projection, and low-end response.

I'm not bragging about it - I've owned it and used the hell out of it for several years now - I would have switched and used something else, except that I haven't found anything I think sounds as good (or vibrates my testicles) as much.

Testicular vibration is a big plus, most companies charge extra for that.

Most massage parlours too.

I am using a Mesa 2X12 Recto right now and it is pretty solid. Sounds nice.

Mine was a 2x12, IMO biggest sounding 2x12 out there and almost physically as big as traditional 4x12's. A little too smooth and bassy for me as a primary/only cab so I added V30's to it for more grit and that helped. In the end I sold it for a Mesa traditional 4x12, but only because I wanted to mix V30's with G12H30's and a 2x12 wasn't rated high enough to handle my head so I was forced to move up to a 4x12. I also had added wheat cloth to the front of my metal grill to give it more of a vintage vibe.

i've had mine for a little over 2 years now. when i bought it, i compared it side by side with every other cab in its price range (and some more expensive) they had at the store (mostly 4x12s, including Peavey, Mesa, Marshall, Hamp;K, Bogner, probably one or two others). it had the most and tightest bottom end punch, while still retaining excellent top-end clarity. in gigs, it's been able to more than hold its own unmicd, even when the other guitarist was playing a Triple Rec through a Recto Standard 4x12. great cab, don't think i'd pick anything else as my #1. the only issue i've really had with it is sometimes having a hard time dbeing able to hear it on-stage, because it's shooting below my ears, unlike what a slanted 4x12 would do.
