So...After a few initial complications with my carvin...i'm finally sitting down and getting to know it. As I use the floyd bar though...it seems to wobble in its socket a bit more than I'm used to (I'm typically running OFR's from the 80's or wilkinson trems). It's one of those sleeved-finger-tight adjustment bars.
So...my question is: is there anything I can do to rectify this? maybe a new trem arm assembly on the tremolo unit itself? Where could I get somthing like this?
Thanks in advance guys
There should be an allen screw holding the bar in place from under where you screw it in, tighten that. If not, find a bar that fit's snuggly in the slot.
nah, doesnt seem to be anything like that. Seems somewhat of a daunting task to look for a trem arm that fits tightly in the slot though.
I might just see if wrapping some electrical tape around it will help at all...
I know Allparts sells an OFR bar replacement kit, which replaces the whole setup to be much tighter. I've heard that fixes any problems you could otherwise have.

Sounds good, I'll go check that one out.
Looks great, exactly what I need (i hope). Wont know for sure till I get it, thanks DSS.
Lemme know how it goes! I always had trouble with wobbly bars when I had licensed Floyds. Getting an OFR was a definate surprise.
The bar on my Peavey is a little wobbly, but it doesn't bother me much. If it's too tight it won't swing freely, and i like it to be outta the way when i'm not using it.

I'm talking more about variances between the diameter of the bar and the diameter of the socket. When you can rock the bar back-and-forth without changing pitch, just cause its clanking around in there. My OFR's don't do that, and I set em up to swing pretty freely.
I think somebody needs to petition Floyd to make a 7 string tremolo.
Edit: heh...woops...i guess they do. just checked the site. strange, I've never seen one before.

If you do wrap tape around it, I would suggest using teflon tape. It's actually made to go around threads to seal them, and you're basically trying to do the same thing. It won't leave things as sticky as electrical tape, either.
Oh if the bar is ALOT smaller, yeah, I'd go with the OFR bar then.
