i bought a on/on/on switch to slit my duncan designed pups(hb103)
now when i switch the toggle it sounds just a little different than normal.should it sound like a regular single coil where i go wow! thats a big difference?
i used this
from : localhost//website...way-w-ssp.html
i was hoping to get a nice single coil tone out om hum?
any ideas why it would sound almost the same as stock wiring?or was i expecting too much
thanks all

i think you did it right, from what ive heard and used, a split humbucker doesnt really sound like a real single coil, and it sounds pretty much like the humbucker but less loud.

There should be Quite a large difference between the split, and Normal series wireing sounds. But sumtimes if your useing both Through distortion (sumtimes even light depending on the pedal, or amp), The difference isn't that Noticeable. But you should still here at least Some difference. Also It kinda depends on weather you split the Bridge or Neck bucker. I personally hear more difference With a split Bridge Bucker then a Neck bucker. Esspecially if the Bridge pickup is Really hot (like a Dd, Or Jb). But that could be Just me.
Also, If your expecting it To sound exactly Like a Strat Single coil (or tele) your probably expecting to much. Theres just way to many difference for them to be that similar sounding. Spliting a Humbucker gets you a More singlecoil-ish tone. But Its never gonna sound like a strat pickup.

So I say try it Clean, and See if you hear a bigger difference (if you haven't tried it clean already). AN if not (or if you just don't like the sound), Then Wire your switch to do sumthing else. Like Phaseing (which Is a massive difference to stock sound), Or even Parellel (which sounds semi-single coilish). Theres really no reason to have a switch ya won't use. So If ya don't hear any difference I say wire it to do sumthing else. Something where you hear a difference.

thankls for thr replies.i made a mistake .i sat down and rewired it fro scratch and i never had the cap grounded.sounds kmore single coil-ish clean.distorted not much difference.
so i have series(normal mumbucking?)split/and paralell(spelling?)
what i wanted was to get my epi l/p to be a jack of all trades.i have a year 2000 usa strat that i am selling cause i just don't care for the neck(just not a strat guy i guess)
i was hoping to get a single coil sound when needed.
it is sort of there.
thanks again

i also wired it with one pickup and one tone control as i never use the neck pup anyways and i can eq the bridge if needed.

To me, splitting a humbucker makes a pretty significant difference. My Patriot has had only one pickup in it for months, because the difference in the Distortion, (neck), split and full has made it no big deal to not have a bridge.

my distortion split sounds like a single coil too...
