whihc single coiled sized humbucker to use in the neck to match the JB Humbuker.....A ny suggestions are welcome...
It's a dual blade single, but cool rails in the neck is a match and actually slightly hotter than my brige JB- Very complimentary
I'd say the Hot Rails neck or JB JR. neck...or maybe the Hot Stack neck.
Lew-
Yeah I was really surprised, but my CR is definately hotter than the JB- I had never had a CR before and even asked around becuase I was surpised how hot it was, but seems that others have had my expereince-
Some of it is probalby wood impact on Hz-
It's a maple nitefly-
The JB is semi-hot and great for rock stanards when full and a very good quackysplit in 2 position-
But the CR is hotter to the degree that I had to drop it flat to the fingerboard as I need clean sounds out of it as well as overdrive- If I had it anywhere near as high as the JB, I couldn't get a decent ballance and the CR would overdrive more that I want-
But other than that adjustment, the 2 work great together and have a low output Dmzo cruiser in the middle that ballances them out very well-

Interesting! Thanks for the info. I wonder if it's actually hotter (It's only 9.4K and rated at moderate output...whereas as the JB is a 16.4K pickup and rated as high output) or just that in the neck pickup position most pickups seem louder than when used in the bridge position because the string moves so much more over the neck pickup? Lew
From my observations, the neck pickup appears to be hotter because of that exact thing Lew, the strings increased vibration in that area. Very typical considering the circumstances.
Case in point. I have a Little 59 in the bridge of my Strat, measures around 12k. The stock neck pickup measures at 2.8k (yes, that is correct, 2.8k). If I put that neck pickup up closer to the strings, it will be very close, or seem to be very close, to the output of the Little 59. The middle measures the same as the neck and behaves much in the same manner.
well yes considering it is in the neck it could sound hotter, as Lew put it more string vibrations... thats I guess a reson why a JB or Customis not put in the neck Generaly...
I realy am suprised with the tone of the JB... It is exactly with Seymour has described it like.. But I gues many a time the description is mis-interpreted....The more I play the Guitar with the JB the more I love it... Keeping the tone and volume full u get THE JB tone, but just lower the volume it cleans of beautifully or just roll of the Tone and U get a sweeet tone....
Oh I forgot ..ErikH... I know what u mean by 2.8k I had a neck and bridge coil single coil measuring like that in my V .. YES U heard that right in a V... and it sucked big time... Very shrill and bright.. playing chords was out of the Q.... the JB is the only pick up on the V now but it has brought the guitar to life....
I think you nailed the position issue- When I said hot, I wasn't talking about the impedance, but the fact that the CR in the neck overdrives my amp earlier than the JB in the bridge- sorry about any confusion
Hot Rails neck is a great companion, tone and output wise, with the JB in bridge. I used that setup for a couple of years. I haven't tried a cool rails, but I'm interested in how that would sound.
Mark
I have a CR in my neck with a JB in the bridge. The CR is incredible, very stratish quot;malmsteenquot; sound and versatile as hell. Haven't tried a HR, think that would match better with the JB.
Mike
what i am looking for is firstly clear chord work
