On the Duncan Pick-ups, can the individual poles be changed to another pick-up as long as its a Duncan? Or is there a issue with this? I put a set of 59/JB's in a Shecter Semi-Hollow [Sound and look great] only thing is the pups I removed had Gold-Poles, where-as the ones I put in are silver? Is there a problem changing the poles one at a time?

If they are your typical PAF-style design, they are interchangeable with almost any other PAF-style design, no matter the manufacturer.

One important note on Gibson poles --- though they are interchangeable with Duncans and other mfr's PAF-style poles, the heads of Gibson pole pieces are larger than Duncans, and it makes a noticeable difference in the sound.

Are you talking about the slugs? If so, I think you will ruin the pickup if you try to remove them....

I don't know if he's talking about slugs but I'm not.

As for the screws, you can swap them all day and night with no problems. The color (gold/nickel/chrome) doesn't matter because gold, chrome and nickel are not magnetic and they are just the coating on the pole -- so they have no effect on the magnetic field. Only the steel pole itself (under the coating) does, so you could have chrome, gold and nickel poles all on the same pickup if you wanted and it will work and sound the same.
