Sorry I don't have a picture, guys, but I was too mad to take one.

I was playing with my pup height some more on my Jackson and when I got it about where I wanted it, I flipped the switch up to the neck pup to see how they balanced out in volume. The switch just fell back down.

After trying the switch a few more times, I took the back plate off to see what the problem was. The switch is attached to the body with a piece going up from the back and a nut on the front holding it on, of course. These pieces have the lever going up inside them. All that works fine, but the other piece has broken loose. The toggle fits between two blades to operate the switch. Those blades are attached to the rest of the switch body, and that attaches to the guitar body with two posts going to the pieces mentioned earlier. That's where the switch came apart.

I can push it back in, but unless I'm gentle, flipping the switch will pull it loose again. I have no clue how this happened, and I've never heard of a switchcraft switch breaking.

My question is two-fold. The guitar is just over a year old and I believe it is past the electronics warranty. Do y'all think it's something that may still be covered? If not, would it be worth fixing (and how) or would it be better to just get a new one? I can't take it back to the store where I got it until Friday (Guitar Sinner isn't going anywhere near this guitar!!!!).

Get a new switch. They're not hard to install. Three solder connections? Go with Switchcraft, and don't get a cheap one.

Are you familiar with coatimundis?

Oh, I'm not afraid of soldering (or coatimundis, for that matter ), I just thought someone might have had that problem before. And hoped someone would know if I could get it replaced for free under warranty.

I plan on getting a Switchcraft if I replace it. There's something wrong if I break two of them.

Isn't there usually a 2 year electronics warranty? Even if there is, a $5 switch is hardly worth jumping through hoops for (at least for me)

And if you break two- you got bragging rights!

Well, I just found that the switches are included with the electronics, which has a one year warranty. So I guess that answers that question. Who's got the best prices on switches? Stew Mac?

And yes, braging rights would be cool.Anyone ever fixed something like this without buying a new one?

Well, Stew Mac didn't have it, nor did anyone else I found. So, I'm gonna have Guitar Sinner order me one. Should arrive in a couple of weeks. Until then, I'll be rockin in the bridge position.

You're talking about a 3 position toggle?

That's pretty close, if not the one. I saw it earlier, but it doesn't say it's Switchcraft. I want one with a chrome tip to look like original, though.

real Switchcraft switches can be hard to come by.... Warmoth does carry them i believe..
