This is the 3rd or 4th time this has happened to me, and I wonder if it happens to you. I install new pups, and they're quot;magicquot;. Two days later . . . not so much. This is in reference to my new JD/AII Pro Tele pups. Don't get me wrong, they still sound great. I love 'em. But they don't have the quot;magicquot; they had the first day.
Seems to me I should have outgrown this phenomenon years ago.
There must be some scientific/psychologic explanation for it.

It's pretty normal for me. Not just pickups, but anything. I'm glad SD's return policy is 21 days.
what do you not like about them anymore?
i've got a Antiquity II bridge pickup on the way for me tele

No, no . . . don't get me wrong. I still love them. But the first day, it was like . . . quot;Oh my God . . . these are the best things I've ever heardquot;. My new quot;standardquot;.
Then, a couple days later . . . they sound good, but . . . my C5/DD combo is good too.
(I wasn't drunk . . . I don't do drugs.)
You know what I mean?

ha yea.....i felt that way about the CC in my Les Paul....then i decided to try out a Phat Cat, and its the best pickup i've ever tried.....it ain't goin nowhere
For me, its usually that my ears prefer A5 pickups. I try out A2 pickups and like the warmth at first, but then I start to miss that 'open' character of A5s, and go right back.

I know exactly what you mean, but I still prefer A5 actives, with a ceramic in the neck .
I just call it the honeymoon period and don't judge things too much until it's over.
