Well we are getting ready to play a show and I am going to use my Fender Vibrochamp.

It sounds great and it appears to be in good working order and it is very clean.

When I got it last April I retubed the entire thing. A few days went buy and the power tube went out. So I stuck the old tube in and it was fine. Its been running on the old tube since I got it.

Since I have a show coming up before I take it somewhere I would like to check it out myself and I want to know if I had a faulty power tube or if something more is wrong with it.

How do I need to go about checking everything?
Are powertubes prone to failier?
What are some good books to read on servicing amps?

I do have an electronics background. I am not wanting to change out caps and such... I just want to keep it healthy. Any type of surgery and I will take it to a pro.

thanks,
edm

I have some more info on the power tube that doesnt work. I have power but the tube does not glow orange. It doesnt get hot either.

Sounds like a faulty tube to me. It's a 6V6 right? I think you should have sent it back right when it happened. Good books, check out stewmac or with Scott.

BTW I love my BF Vibro Champ! I've got JJ's in it and couldn't be happier with it.
