guitartheaven just recomended me a jb bridge humbucker for the neck!!!!
said that it would clean up well for clean and semi distorted sounds.
and the custom 5 as well..for the neck.
doesn´t this sound odd?
Many players have used the JB in the neck and are happy with it. I think the C5 might be a bit big in the bottom to do well in the neck though, just my opinion. Even so, niether of those pickups is designed for the neck, but some people like using them there anyway.
Neither of them would be first on my list as a neck pickup. What are you combining it with? What type of guitar etc.?
prs mahogany type cort m700
tom andersonh3 or breed for the bridge.

I don't know about the anderson pup, but I think the Breed would be too weak to compete witha JB in the neck...
saw a squier on ebay once that some dude hotrodded...said he put a 59 in the bridge and a JB in the neck. Guess it wasn't a typo...

JBs in the neck are great split in mahogany guitars (LP types) but they have to be set real low. In HB mode they are great for lead, but a bit quot;plummyquot; for rythm - and they are very high output in HB mode in the neck. In some guitars, the route is not deep enough to correctly balance the volumes.
I haven't used either of the pickups you mention, so I can't comment on the balance. The C5 in the neck usually gives excessive boomy bass in my experience, but other people may disagree.
Don't forget that the JB is a tremspaced pup. It'll still work, but the pole pieces won't be directly under the strings.
exactly my point when i thought of the c5 having to much bass.
I sent an email to dimarzio tech as well asking if the air zone would be a good choice for the neck and they responded quot;I think the Air Zone will be too bass-heavy to suit most players, and you might do better considering either an Air Norton or a Breed neck model.quot;.
maybe guitarheaven would consider the duncan c5 an air zone??? dont know and just by imagining the thing sounding dreadly awfull in the neck position gives me bad dreams. And so this just tells me again to put a DUNCAN JAZZ MODEL in the neck. One more thing,i did ask guitarheaven twice which dimarzio they recomend to match the very high output anderson bridge for the neck and they responded TWICE for duncan.i know they care for their loyal duncan customers as they state on there site, but come on...
anyway, just helped me realize that a jb in the neck or a evolution neck would give me the most addicting solos ,but compromising forever my CLEAN sound.
THE JAZZ MODEL ON THE WAY
the thought of quot;the Air Zone will be too bass-heavy to suit most playersquot;by dimarzio tech gave me goose bumps to think of it in the bridge position.yikes!!!
its hard to not choose a pickupyou already know(anderson h3 ) than to taking chances on a new one everybody raves about.
the breed and air zone are the first choices of most players wanting to put a strat close to a LP sound, close but no cigar.

i was gonna make this a knew thread but it would seem to much ,given that the last days all i did was posting knew topics.so here goes.after reading reviews of jackson KE2 guitar users,jb(b) and jazz(n) i can only conclude that the jazz and the air norton are very much alike. They difer in that the air norton is more high output thus providing a more cutting thing for solos, and the jazz not far behind also giving possibly the better clean tones.thing is,im only making an assumption, for i dont know if the air nortons clean do as good as the jazz.
a matter of taste i guess.
I can only speak from experience with the jazz, and I will say it has fantastic clean tones! The dirty tones sound good to me, but they might not be hot enough for others.

The TB-4 is a trem-spaced JB, the SH-4 is a regular spaced JB.

Never mind quot;oddquot;, it's bleepin' nuts! I've been buying pickups from them for years and they are orthodox old school types. I can't imagine them recommending a high-output BRIDGE pickup for the neck position -- and saying it will quot;clean up wellquot;?
You sure you heard them right?
What do you expect from a bunch of hicks in Tennessee?

That's great!
I guess the hicks from AR. could be worse man!
Zhangliqun here is the email they sent me:
quot;Since the Anderson pickup is pretty high output, you might like a Duncan JB in the neck position. That pickup is typically used in the Bridge, but would give you a good powerful option in the neck; that also cleans up very well.
Also, a Duncan SH-5 or SH-14 could be cool in the Neck position.
Or, consider an Anderson HN series pickup, to match up with the H3 .
Thanks,
Mark
