hey all. Whats a good effects board for around 200 bucks, I want to get something to replace my 5 year old dying rp300. I mainly use chorus, reverb and distortion, while everyonce in a while ill play with a flanger or phaser, though not as important.
Would it be best to get seperate pedals? I am also getting a peavey xxx amp and cab in a few months, so I dont think Ill need distortion pedals,,,,
any thoughts?
If you dont' mind the lack of programming, it's hard to beat a Holier Grail reverb pedal, and a used Boss CE-2 or new Danelectro cool cat chorus.
Of if you want rack, a used intellifex has gorgeous reverbs and choruses.
Actually the Holier Grail might put you over budget... If so, the cheaper Holy Grail still sounds great..
Get the Line 6 blue modulation pedal. You can find them used for less than $200, and you'll never run out of sounds it can do. Plus, they're so easy to use, a monkey could program the 4 presets. I like the pedal, because if I need an effect for a song, I don't have to chase down a pedal, I just turn the rotary dial, tweak it, and store it.
I have a Korg Ax1500g...I love it. I really only use it for distortion though.
either the line 6 modulation or go with seperate pedals. I throughly dislike pedal boards that you have to search forever before you get to the right one.
Is the Korg ax1500g something I could use feasibly as a live peice of equipment? A friend of mine (with 20 years in the biz) really thinks I should get something like the Rocktron xpression, since it doesnt have the amp modelers. Ill be getting a peavey xxx amp head and speaker cab soon, so would the korg be usefull, considering all the amp modelings it has?
The Xpression is a remake of the old Rocktron Replifex.. There are bunch of reviews on the net comparing the two. It definitely sounds good... Similar quality to the Intellifex mentioned earlier, but a different set of internal effects..
A good multieffect pedal would do the trick too, you should save some more money and go for a Boss GT-8 or a Line 6 POD Xt Live, if not the line 6 stomp are quite good, the uber metal has an amazing tone... or the chorus CE-1 from boss and a DD-6 from boss too.

Ok so I broke down and sprung for the pod xt live. They had one at guitar center, and they were having a memorial day sale so I got a good deal. The clincher on that one was the usb connectivity and studio recording capabilities. very cool
