I have not had a Custom in a guitar for a while. Wow, I really like this pickup. It cleans up nicely and gets very aggressive with some good distortion.
I was afraid that I would not like the higher power, since I have become quite used to my Seth Lover, which I really like in my Les Paul. It does have a little bit of that higher output compression, especially on the lower notes, but the trade off of open-ness and bold, edgy output is well worth it with this pickup.
I highly recommend the Custom to anyone that likes to go from quality clean to quality dirt with the same pickup
For the past six months, the Custom in the bridge of my Fake LP has been my do-everything pickup. I bought this guitar to be a high-gain monster and expected to keep using my Tele for janglier, lighter stuff. But what I'm finding is that the pair of Duncan's I've put in this LP (DDn DC) are much more versatile than I ever expected and even do the things that I always relied on my Tele to do, in some cases better than the stock Fender pups. My Tele has done nothing but collect dust hanging on the wall since I installed the Custom.
