Im trying to get an old Kramer. The one I was going for got snatched up. Ive read per the vintagekramer website that pickups for some of the Focus models were made by . Can someone confirm this? If this is true, were these normal Duncans or were they along the Duncan Designed variety? This would definately make a difference to me! Thank you!
I believe that only the American series had Duncan pickups. Otherwise the focus models had schaller pickups.
Snowdog
Kramers only came stock w/ Duncans post late 85. Prior to that, all of the American models came w/ Schaller pickups.
Some Strikers 100 series came w/ Duncan Designed pickups.
Most of the Focus pickups were matsuko.
this is 1986. Body and neck are ESP made. Matisuko? are those any good

Very good. Still sought after. My Baretta is a 1988 model and still plays great. I got it used but have had it close to 10 years or so. Without paying an arm and a leg for one, models post late 85 are a good catch. Any of the models made prior to that time fetch more money and are pretty hard to find. Those that have them are keeping them.

some focus(3000 model?) models had a JB and two ssl-1's
my bud plays a older focus he loves that he bought years ago new and it came with those pups stock
this would be cool! How can I tell buy looking at them?
You would probably have to pull them out and look. Back then the Duncans that went in were of the non logoed variety.
If you're needing help when looking for something. PM me and let me know. I have an old Kramer fetish and a regular on the Kramer forum. If I can't help you, I know quite a few guys that can!

If he bought it new in 86, it's an ESP neck Kramer. Wood could be maple or alder, possibly even poplar.

It was a period of the quot;anything goes ritualquot;. late 85-early/mid 86 is when they switch over from parts suppliers. Knowing this, also know that Kramer was not a company that would not waste anything. So there have been some instances of having ESP necks on Sports bodies etc...
This was also around the time frame of the last batch of nana head Kramers in which Kramer had a bad batch of glue and the joint on the necks came apart and then were replaced w/ the ESP variety pointy heads.
Another thing that would be really helpful is the serial # off the neckplate if that's managable.
Good points there. I'd be interested in seeing this one myself.

According to the data on VintageKramer.com, Kramers were made of mostly alder followed by maple and then poplar. The Focus models were primarily alder.

Those would be known as NOS and were used on mutt guitars. The bodies/necks may or may not match what they were together with in the early 80's. Most of the banana's from the 90's are mutts from the factory sell-off.

I didn't say they werent quot;NOSquot; just said that they were being used again.

Scroll down to the section that says quot;Focus Bodiesquot;. It's right there. The page you gave says nothing of the type of wood used. I just read it.
Sorry if I'm coming across harsh, just making sure that what info is given here is correct. As on the neck, I know you didn't says NOS but it came across the way you said it like they were actually making them again, new, rather than using up what was in the building. Just clearing things up, that's all.
