I know, most of y'all know, that the Custom series of pickups all share the same coils, and just have different magnets. It would be cool to have a list of all the Duncan pickups that have common coils, and what are the differences otherwise(potted/not potted, allen screws etc.). I've heard a lot of rumours, concerning various models, but I'd like to get some confirmed facts.

This could be a very useful thread for those of us looking to do a little bit of experimenting. If it is pretty complete, it might even be one for the vault.

OK, the Customs all have the same coils (common knowledge), but here's what I think:

* SSL-1 amp; 2 (only diff is in the pole pieces)

* I think the JB, Distortion, and Invader are said to have the same coil structure, just different mags

* Pearly Gates and Pearly Gates (I think)

These are all speculations on my part.

The problem is, some of those quot;confirmed factsquot; were leaked inadvertently, and innocently by SD employee's who then got into some hot water for doing so. Out of our love and respect for said employees, we try not to talk about it too much. At least, not until Evan, et al, decide to make such knowledge official.

Of course there a some almost-known-pickups:

SSL-4 amp; 7
SSL-5 amp; 6

And there is the quot;still-not-yet-invented-but-should-existquot; Jeff Beck neck model, which then should be a DDneck with A5.

PSSST. It's called a Jazz.

Does anyone know if the Seth shares coils with the 59. I know they're unpotted also.

I tried this and it sounds like the JB is described for the bridge position.
Sweet and with lot of sustain.
Imagine a thicker Jazz neck, which is a bit less (but still) articulate.
Tommorow i will compare how it sounds paired with a JB (Bridge).
