Well, as some of you may know, I recently purchased a Phat Cat for the neck of my Epiphone. As some of you may also know, the machine heads are cheap pieces of pearloid... quot;excrementquot;, to keep everything family friendly. I was getting a little fret buzz, so I decided to raise the tailpiece a bit. When loosening the strings, the pearloid button on one of my machine heads cracked and broke off (again). I just decided to remove the strings altogether, as I'm going to have my Phat Cat installed in the near future.
Anywho, I was just wondering about a bridge pickup, as I'm hocking a ton of my stuff tomorrow, and I'll soon have enough money (if only a little more than enough).
I'm very open to suggestions, so if you think you can help a Jimmy Page/David Gilmour/Jimi Hendrix/Adam Jones/Zakk Wylde/Randy Rhoads/Tony Iommi/Southern Blues-Rock loving boy out, I'd really appreciate it.
I'm mainly looking for a Jimmy Page sort of tone for my Epi, as I can put a Custom Custom and/or a Pearly Gates in my Floyd Rose, and of course... it's a Les Paul (albeit a knockoff), which is THE Jimmy Page guitar, c'mon now.
Anyway, I'm really astounded at how helpful you guys have been so far. I really appreciate all the info you guys gave me in regards to my SPH90. Many thanks.
jimmy page generally gets a bright sound from his pickups. his sig model uses the burstbuckers now, im not sure what he used originally. the burstbuckers use an alnico 2 magnet. the alnico pro2 has a generally balanced tone, the custom custom has more mids. i think the pearly gates might be agood choice for u. all 3 of these use alnico 2 magnets.
I like the following, in order of preferencequot;
Seth Lover
JB (w/an alnico 2)
CC
Screamin' Demon (Wattage turned me onto this)
C-5

Ok you're going a bunch of different directions in the top paragraph, but in the second statement you clarify what you want. SOOOOOO.....
For Jimmy sounds the 59 is the way to go. A brighter pup with lots of high end and quacky spank.
The Seth also does a very good job but is slightly warmer.
Luke
I would think 59 or custom/custom.
custom 5?

You said it right there...........Pearly Gates. Had one in the bridge of my SG. I could rip ZZ Top all day. It was a little bright for such a thin guitar, but should sound great in a thicker LP. Even an Epi.
I have a 77 Les Paul and I've had all kinds of pickups in it. For Jimmie Page tone, I'd go for a 59 or a Seth Lover. I like the Seth Lover a little more these days, but either will do the job wth the right amp. For a little more grind and grit, go for the Custom.

another Pearly Gates would be a pretty good match
thanks
Jon Moore humbucker.

I agree with the '59 suggestion. If you want that Page tone, go Alnico V. If you want somthing hotter than a '59, then go with a c-5.
