Hi all,
Thanks for the many replies on the tele vs. strat differences. Given this, if you were going to make a 2HB guitar, or 2-3 minihum (like Firebird or LP deluxe type), what would you pick, a tele or a strat?
The tele should have more sustain and more chunk, based on what I know about the differences.
Tough question. I'd probably lean towards the Tele just because I like the fact that you can remove the control plate to play with the wiring without having to loosen the strings on the guitar.
I'd probably go with a Tele body style also. But if I really had my choice and it was a H/H setup, I might also think about a Les Paul or LP jr. body.
I would go with a strat because I like the neck better or maybe a tele and get a warmoth strat neck.
tele
it'll sound more solid, given the fretboard material is the same on both
What kinda bridges are you gonna use? Hardtail or tremolo on the strat, and HB ready standard tele bridge or a hardtail strat kinda bridge? Those will make differences, and it depends on your tastes whether you like them or not. The additional metal on regular tele bridges might change the tone.
I feel a hard tail strat and a tele with a hard tail strat bridge would sound almost the same upto differences due to wood.

Tele all the way man! To me the Tele just sounds more solid. Maybe its because everything isn't resting in a single huge hole like in a tele. Id go for Tele. Im thinking of just getting an Esquire myself and just putting in a hotrails! *drools* that will sound so good!
A Tele to me sounds like a Strat on steroids. It's got hair on it's chest. My Strat sounds breathy and whispery next to the Bastardcaster. They both have a useable tone, but the Tele seems better suited to everything that I play right now.
