It's in! Came home from meetings to find that UPS had a suprise for me.

Close up of a very comfortable heel

The FMT string ferrals are completely recessed unlike the Standard

Nice finish on the headstock and binding. Note the pickup rings, they are matching smoked metal rather than plastic.

looks good man...how's it play/sound/feel...how's the quality!?

Nice geetar!!! Enjoy!

Very different Jack plates

I'm not sure what tuners are being used on the FMT, sort of look like Ping?

very nice, i have the one hum/one knob esquire GT version of that guitar that i stuck a JB in (came with an invader)...it's a great guitar for the cash...solid mahogany, set neck with a comfy heel yadda yadda. i'm sure you'll love yours! what's the neck shape like on yours? mine has a real thin D shaped neck somewhere b/t and ibanez and a typical fender in thickness.

While the body size and shape are the same, the FMT is noticeably thinner and slightly lighter.

Yeah I had one of those, I couldn't get used to the very very thin neck profile and flat radius. It's really a shredder axe disguised as a Telecaster. Is that a made in usa or korean model? It's really nice looking.

I agree on the thin D shape, It's very similar to the Schecter C1 necks. I did a side by side with my buddy's C1 EA and couldn't hardly tell the difference other than the heel.

I think that it will be very versital with the right pups in it. It is a shredder guitar with the current set up, but that will have to change. BTW it's the Korean model.

similar to a schecter...really? i have a c1 XXX and the neck is much thicker and a C shape compaired to my esquire GT thin little D. the schecter is closer to a typical fender neck in thickness and back shape than it is to the set neck tele's like yours and my GT. the necks on these set neck fender teles seem to be alot like an ibanez neck to me...very thin D...i wish i could add some wood to mine sometimes lol.

So on to the review:

Right out of the box the action was iffy, neck relief was off and needs adjustment, pup height is a matter of taste and needed to be adjusted up, and it really needs a string change up to 10's. The finish is nearly flawless, absolutly beautiful. The neck is fast and comfortable, frets are nicly dressed jumbos. Tuners seem solid and hold tuning. Volume CTS pot feels silky smooth, while the tone push pull pot feels a bit loose. The pots, btw, are recessed a bit into the top. Not as deep as say a PRS, but it was a nice touch. Control cavity is painted with shielding paint and the cover is shielded. Fit on the the cover is ok, but very tight and it takes more effort to pull it and put it back in for a flush fit. The pup splitting is really cool, both pups split when the pot is pulled. In the middle pos of the 3way the Bridge/Neck split are hum canceling due to the '59 neck being reverse wound, another nice touch. This is a bright guitar and I'm not sure if the PG is the right pup for the job. The jury is still out on either of the pups. The PG is too brittle and the '59n is too muddy under gain, but I've got alot more tweaking to do before I pull them. Now both pups played clean split or HBing sound wonderful. More to come........

Nice Flame!

Very nice! I'm impressed! I was very close to buying one of those before I decided to build a Warmoth instead. I may have to get one anyway!

Wow, I like it alot. Beauetiful finish and fmt. Have fun with it!
