took a few better pics of the 59. the color really changes in different light.

there are times when the inner gold part of the flame looks antique greenish. pretty freaky.

Well ... anytime you get sick of it (or it distracts you too much) ... I'm sure that I could find a suitable place to get rid of the guitar for you

Very nice, although I'm waiting for someone to chime in with quot;that's not a real 1959 colorquot; ... who cares very nice

Out of curiousity what are you running in the THD?

I am running a NOS 5881 CBS (short barrel) and a new 12ax7M and I switch between a 12au7, 12at7, 12ax7M or C in the driver position

Sorry if this is a stupid question but what kind of '59 reissue is that? Is it a custom shop model or something. It's just I can't seem to find that particular finish on a guitar on Gibson's website.

gorgeous top!!! Is that a Joe Perry model?

That is fantastic looking. I believe the color is Trans Black (correct me if I'm wrong). I'm usually not a fan of Trans Black, but the top on that is really, really cool.

It is a one off color for a 59 reissue. Transparent black. It is not a standard 59 color. I have seen a few one off colors on the 59 reissue, and they are all seem to have an antiqued or aged look to them. I have seen a trans blue, trans purpleish, champagne and a trans red. I can guarantee that this is a 59 reissue, as I have the COA. All of the historic reissues are custom shop. Recently they (gibson) have changed the name of the custom shop. I am not sure if it the historic division, or the custom shop? ? ? ? Scott might know. If you are looking for a trans black gibson E-bay has one it is a 2004 standard in a limited run color.

nope, a 1959 reissue

ahhh very cool...it does have that quot;boneyardquot; vibe to it in certain lights where it gets a bit yellowish b/t the black...NICE!!

Bah, you know what that guitar is missing? A relic job. Let me pull it behind my SUV on the pavement for about 30 yards. Then you will have a bonafide genuine looking reissue. The fee for my services is $1,000. What say you?

If I could have any Historic, that would be it. Spectacular guitar!

What makes me sick to my stomach is that my tax donation to Uncle Sam this week equals the price of that guitar. @#$%@$%@#$%%@

Ditto. That is by far probably the sweetest LP I think I have ever seen and it doesn't hurt that it's the best model LP out there... a '59 RI I'm not a LP fan and I'm getting G.A.S. just looking at it

Nice flame!!

Yeah, the flame really is incredible.

That's AWESOME!!! my second favorite LP color next to Rootbeer!!!
