Hi everybody.

It's time to look at acoustics. I was wondering if you guys could suggest acoustics between $500 amp; $700.

I'd like something with a solid top. Electronics and a cutaway aren't really necessary for me. I don't really care for dreadnaughts, but if you guys know of any that are particularly good, please suggest them. Thanks a bunch.

Martin DR is the closest thing to a D-28, since it has laminated rosewood back and sides, instead of solid. So close in tone it's apples'n'oranges.
Martin 310, 410, 314, or 414 used.

Stick with midline Martins and Taylors used....IMO, of course.

i played this model washburn at a shop a couple weeks ago and i was blown away by how nice it was.

I like my Yamaha APX5A. Thinline but it sound well enough across the room and you won't feel odd switching from an electric (or if like me you're arms are small). Comes with electronics and a cutaway. Just be carefull about the shape you either love it or hate it. You can get it for 500 to 600$.

The 5A is the work-horse version, if you want something fancier move to the higher numbers, if I had the cash I'd go for the 9C (ebony, full binding, gold hardware that I despise but since it comes with a condenser mic and a peizo...). These run from 800 to 1200$

The values are from two years ago so do a bit of research.

Takamine AN10s:

Solid cedar top
Solid mahogany sides and back
Nice tuners
scalloped bracing
thin satin finish
no unnecessary cosmetic crap
