i just ordered a Rocktron RepliTone 2X12 combo after my bad experience with the vox valvetronix series. Rocktron doesnt seem that popular but this amp had so many features and i havent found a bad review that i thought id try it out. Has anybody ever heard of these , tried, or owned one?

Well, I can't help you with the amp per se', but every piece of Rocktron gear I've used or own was built like a tank, and very good sounding, even those *old* preamp/distortion/exciter preamps.... very smooth and natural sounding distortion ... my overall impression was that no matter where you set it it sounded good, and natural ... maybe didn't peg an exact sound, but more than enough to work with. The only bad things I've heard has been in regards to some of their preamp/FX units ... comments generally were that they put a lot of work into the FX, but the preamp itself was rather 2nd place to their previous stand alone preamps (around the time of the AGX equipped preamps).
Now their pedals, well I don't know the only stuff I've heard at all was in regard to someone who bought the Hush pedal and expected it to be like the Pro Hush Rack or something ...
Hey gtg10k, just curious, what kind of touble did you have with the Valvetronix?
I'm very close to buying one and want to know if I should be concerned with anything in particular....
Thanks,
Scott
I really don't know a thing about the Replitone amp but I've tried the Vendetta and it's one of my fav modern amps. If the combo has the same durability as the Rocktron stompboxes I use on tours, the Replitone should survive direct impacts with 100MPH rushing trains...
new guy, the speaker began cutting out on the ad50vt i ordered after two days of use. if heard so many great things about the valvetronix and some reliability issues such as the input jack falling into the amp and the speaker dying. However there are some that have theirs working fine for along time so you might try giving it a shot, you will probably get one with no problems at all ( i just dont even like the thought if it breaking down while doing a gig or something, thats why i tried something else)
I think the speaker may have cut out due to dust or oxidation on the headphone jack. On my AD-60, occasionally the speaker will mute, but if I put a jack in the headphone jack a few times the speaker comes back on. I think this is just a problem with cheap jacks they use. It might be solved by putting tape or plastic over the headphone jack to prevent it from getting dusty or oxidized. I used some tuner cleaner on my jack yesterday and the amp sounds better. I think as the headphone jack gets dusty it affects the sound little by little until it cuts off the speaker. Really unacceptable. I gotta put tape or replace the jack with something decent. This is the only problem I've had, though, in a year and a 1/2.
