It seems that the vast majority of the boutique amps are based on a power tube other than the 6L6. Who makes the best 6L6 boutique amp, in your opinion?
Depends on what you are looking for.

There are a lot of great amps out there that are 6l6 equipped.
Let's look at some of them:
Bogner Shiva, VHT 50/ST (actually switchable between 6l6 an EL34), Fargen Blackbird, Bruno Cowtipper 45, Top Hat Ambassador 50 or 100, Fuchs ODS, Allen Brown Sugar
These amps are all top of their game in the 6l6 realm and there are plenty more out there that I'm sure are wonderful.
When I think of 6L6 amps, I think of Mesa.

Most boutique amps are Marshall ripoffs that also do a decent clean.....As for boutique 6L6.....are you looking for a boutique Fender? Or something high gain?

yeah, there are so many good amp companies now
I think of amps as having three topologies: Fender, Marshall, and Vox. So, it depends on what you're looking for.
I got to play several nice amps lately, and I liked the Bruno Underground 30, so I'd take a look at his offerings.
I really like my Victoria Double Deluxe, and he has quite a few tweed type amps using 6L6s. He also has the Regal, a single ended 6L6 amp with 1 15quot;, based on a Valco amp.

I was just singing the Double Deluxe's praises in another thread ... I thought it had 6V6 power tubes, tho ...

I'm surprised nobody mentioned Dumble. He might be eccentric and perhaps even irritating but he man is an amp-building genius.

Absolutely. In fact, price wise, I guess you could call that quot;thequot; premier boutique 6l6 amp. I completely forgot it was 6l6 equipped myself
Victoria Imperial
Tophat Ambassador
Toneking
Blues Pearl
For high gain
Soldano
Krank
Two Rock?
TWO ROCK
I'm a Marshall (EL34) guy all the way, and I am dying for one of these.

Diezel-wear a diaper when you check the price

wow, you left out Two Rock.
IMHO most 6L6 boutique amps are based on blackface fender tones with a gain stage or two thrown in if you're lucky.
I think you'd be just as well served as to go out and buy some high quality transformers and build yourself something based on a fender blackface circuit. Or have it built for you by a guy like jeff seal.
I've taken a long hard look at my Two Rock's guts and there are some things they do that are a bit odd, but they haven't reinvented the wheel. The tone is just there no matter how you slice it. They do give you a ton of options that are quite useable. it's a really tinker-friendly amp. everything sounds great, no bad options. solid state rectifier, but the amp has a nice amount of sag to it. The more and more I play it, the less and less I like the lead channel. I prefer the overdriven sound of EL84's to 6L6's.
Lots of great choices. Just pick a price point and go for it!

I did, too, and I even own one. That's because I don't think it has the eminence of a Dumble or Bruno. Unlike my TRock, I have a hard time with the price of the quot;premierquot; amps and probably couldn't pass Dumble's audition process, anyway.
You have to audition to own a Dumble?

Not if you buy one used. If you want the man to build one for you then, yes, you have to audition.
