I really haven't taken the time since I went to Odie's and crashed my Expedition to set up my Lesters properly. Odie made a new bone nut for one, and re-worked the standard Gibson nut on the other.

Spent all of the late morning and late afternoon finalizing everything. Got the pickups squared away in the Goldtop. Changed to my last two sets of Snake Oil Strings that I've been saving for the Lesters, now that all changes to hardware and pups are done. Put some small drops of oil in the nut slots and on the bridge saddles to help tuning stability. Checked the necks for relief, but Odie had done this when I was up there, so there was no real need to make any changes.

Set the action on both where I like it, tuned and intonated both using GJ's intonation method. Basically open and 12th fretted completely in tune, then checking frets above and below the 12th to make sure they are in tune. This can be a frustrating and time consuming venture...especially since I don't have a strobe tuner. Once I intonated the first time, I went and adjusted the pickup height, and the the individual pole piece heights to obtain the tone I wanted from both neck and bridge positions. Then went and re-intonated again, to account for any change the magnetic field change of the pups may have had on tuning.

The only thing remaining is to lower two of the string slots on my Standard. I worked on them a little, but I'll wait to let Odie do it right....with my luck I'd cut too deep and ruin the nut altogether. The A and B string slots are slightly high, making it difficult to get the action EXACTLY where I want it. Detail work like that is not my forte.

Finally got all of this done, and I'm too damn tired to play my guitars. Go figure.

Thats usually how it goes with me, Jeff

Sounds like you had a busy day! Enjoy them now!

Sounds like a lot of hard work. It will definitely pay off. Good idea about rechecking the intonation after adjusting the pups. I hadn't thought about that, but it definitely could make a difference. Enjoy the fruits of your labor, even if you have to wait until tomorrow.

Sooooooo,an hour of tech work isn't as easy as it sounds hmm?

J/k bud, you're on your way to ruining your life with tech-itis.
Welcome to hell, you'll love this version as much as you're gonna hate it.

I will get it squared away Jeff. Time was really tight when you and scott came up here. I will take care of ya!!
