I have a problem I would like to see if you guys know the best solution! My OLP MM1 Axis has a standard trem on it. Now this guitar in standard tuning will stay in tune pretty well with HEAVY trem use, I'm talking bottoming it out, I treat it like a Floyd and it handles it very well. Now when I'm drop D it goes incredibly out of tune, it actually seems to pull the D sharp and the other strings flat a bunch. This is a problem since I need this for Seraphim shows and our stuff is in Drop D. Now when I got the gutiar I knew it would need upgrades. I have upgraded the pickups and it KICKS! But what I'm thinking, I'm guessing a set of Sperzel locking tuners would fix this problem immidiately correct? What are your guys thoughts on the matter?
That should help alot. I would also try using as few springs on it as you can. You also might want to get a new nut.
definitely take a good look at the nut...but something seems strange here...did you change anything else, like to a thicker e-string?
nope, they are regular ol 10 guage soon be probably be downed to 9 guage strings. Has 3 springs in it as of now. Ideas?
you might also try tightening the springs on your trem so the bridge lays flat on the body ( no up-pull). then you can go between the 2 tunings w/o issue.
but def inspect your nut slots ... if you wank on the whammy and watch the strings really close .. you may be able to see where you problem is.
