Is it possible to take a JB or Jazz pickup w/out a cover and put one on? I've seen some good pickups for a fair price on ebay, but none w/gold covers which I want. So would it be possible, or difficult to do this? Thanks!

You'll need a Duncan cover and the spacing of the screws needs to match..Here's how I do it...
Place a piece of masking tape over the flat slug poles on the bobbin...Carefully press the cover all the way onto the bobbins making sure it seats all the way over the screws...I Like to loosen the 6 bobbin screws out before I do this...Clamp the cover with something...I use a small plastic squeeze handle clamp I got from Home Depot...Put a bead of solder on both long sides of the pickup plate..The solder needs to flow shiny and land between the cover edge and the pickup base plate...I have a tutorial in the vault about replacing the magnet in a humbucker with pictures..
Cick here.. from : localhost/www.projectguitar.com/tut/barmagswap.htm
I used that very link to learn how to do it myself....easy peasy brother.

Well very cool...Glad the tutorial helped you out there brother...
Hey StratD., thanks for the link. It does look doable, although I'm not comfortable soldering anything (I would of course practice before attempting this). However, one thing you said got me curious; you stated that some people don't solder the cover back into place but you do to keep it from popping of, which makes sense to me. Would there be some other way that you can think of to hold the cover in place without soldering?
