I have a TSL 100 and would like to use an OD as a solo boost. I have a tone driver right now and in front of the amp doesn't kick in much noticble volume at all. In the FX loop the volume works but realy affects tone badly.
What about a GE-7 EQ in loop?
THe Wylde does not have enough for a clean boost, but with the level maxed and the gain around 12 o'clock it will still give you a pretty cool boost. Definately try before you buy, I got mine for $40 used, I wouldn't have paid the MF new price.
The Zack Wylde OD is based on a Boss SD-1, which is pretty damn close to a TS-9 tubescreamer. These are some classic solo boost pedals...maybe you can't use it as a pure clean boost but if you want to get a boost with a little more grit the ZW-44 might be the thing for you.
What is the difference between the gain and drive? I put the drive at 9 and gain at 2 and then reversed them and they sound very similar? At this point I just want more gain without changing my open 3D tone of JCM 800
Hmmm, the Wylde has output, tone, and gain controls...? I have had one since they first came out and (aside from the crappy stock switch) I love it. It's a lot thicker than my TS9 or a SD1 and provides plenty of boost for a tight heavy rhythm tone or leads...for me anyway.

Dimebag had one in his pedalboard and used it as a solo booster when he was in Damageplan.
