Hi all, I´m new here, I love Stratocasters and I will buy the Deluxe Strat with Locking Tremolo, I love the classic neck clean sounds but I want my guitar to be a hard rocker too with the bridge. Wich PU should I use for hard rock? 59? Please option for maple and rosewood fingerboard.
Thanks
Welcome! I have a Pearly Gates in my Strat's bridge, but I am guessing for hard rock you will want something like the JB or the Custom. If you're looking for more of a quot;classic rockquot; sound, go for the '59 or the Gates.
Good luck!
And what is the difference between the 59 and the Gates? is the 59 more like a LP tone?
I'd go with the TB-1 59 tremspaced in the same color as your singles.
If you want the same type of tone with more output, go to a C-5.
If you want to bulk up the high mids, JB
If you want to bulk up the low mids, CC
If you install it, and the bridge/neck position sounds out of phase, wire the green to the switch with the black and silver wire to the pot ground........rather than black to switch w/green/silver to pot ground. Adding Duncans to Fenders can be tricky sometimes.

The 59 is a replica of the PAF humbucker found in the '59 Les Paul. If you want a true Classic Rock sound, like Jimmy Page or Eric Clapton from Cream, this is the one. The Pearly Gates is similar, but the highs are smoother and the mids are fatter. It is perfect for blues rock or Southern rock (think of Billy Gibbons, Duane Allman, etc.)
They were both originally designed for the Les Paul, but for a Strat I would pick the PG. The softer high-end response offsets the natural brightness of the guitar. I really love the tone of it in my Strat. It works very well for most classic rock tones, and it totally nails the early Van Halen sound.
