Cover of my favourite Slayer song
I added/changed quite a few bits.
from : localhost/me what you think.
Thanks
pretty good stuff. i am a big slayer fan, so i'm very familiar with the song.i liked what you added, it helped break up the monotony of the long begining. the only thing i noticed was your timing was a little off in some places, but otherwise your playing was good. i'd like to learn it as well. what gear did you use? where did you get the backing track?
Thanks for the feedback.
I used my Ltd H-400 with JB/59 p'ups into a POD.
Do you think the rhythm tone sounds pretty accurate?
The backing track is a midi file... lol
actually, i do. it got me thinking about how everyone is so concerned about which pickup to use. i am assuming that you set your pod to a british crunch or something similar, correct? that would make sense being that kerry king and jeff hanneman use jcm 800's. it goes to show that the amp you use has so much to do with your tone.
i am thinking that i want to get a pod some day, along with a good set of headphones. how do you like your pod anyway?
I like my POD. With a bit of tweaking, it can give me pretty much any tone I have a use for. Only problem is the models don't sound much like the actual amp, so you have to forget about what they're trying to model and just use your ears.
For that clip, I used the Modern HiGain model (Soldano Power Amp) with the quot;Line 6 1x12quot;, which is nothing like their setup! I couldn't get enough gain out of the JCM 800 model.
I'm diggin' the tone, what you added doesn't sound bad... just not the way slayer did it, but still not bad.
A good cover over-all.
Hearing the lyrics in there would have been kool, but that's why I've got the CD. Good Job Bro!
Rock On!
Thanks Kac
Come to think of it.. I don't think my intro penta-solo fits too well
Quite nice. Of course you're well aware that actually modifying such a masterpiece as SITA is a grave blasphemy. As you're a first timer as far as I know, I'll let it go. Next time Satan'll come up and kick your ass big time.
Did you have reverb or delay back there? Your solo sounded quite like the original, which I liked pretty much. I always find Slayer solos to be excellent, no matter what other people say. Since you played this one like this, how about posting some of your own stuff?
Oops.. I should have known better... I don't want Satan after me!!!
I had to modify the main solo though cuz I don't have a Floyd.
The rhythm had a bit of reverb, the clean part had some delay and the solo had a bit of both.
I like Slayer solos too, and I don't why people hate them so much. To me, they always have that quot;I'm gonna kill youquot; vibe to them, especially Hanneman's part in this song.
Theres a bit of my own stuff on my soundclick page, but I'll post more songs when I've finished them
Thanks for listening
Noone else wants to hear teh SLAYER?
i love the tone on that solo. niice shredding too. i love modeling pedals for listening through headphones. they sound so great for that! my digitech rp50 sounds real crappy through an amp though. idk why.
Thanks slash
Yeah POD's sound great for headphones, but when you plug them into an amp the sound ends up too coloured.
Whoa dude holy **** I really liked it, the playing was very Slayer like, and the tone was almost spot on from what I remember (haven't heard this oin like a year lol). But very good. I'm going to get a regular PODxt, could you please send me a PM with the tones and models and tweaks you did to get the distorted and clean sounds? THanks man I'd appreciate it.
Thanks G,
I've already written up how to get these tones for someone else, so I'll drop you a PM...
