I dug up a couple old threads, but wondered if any new info has surfaced.
Id like to get one, but its gonna be mail order, so I cant try it first.
Anything? good or bad? Peace

what do you want to know? i ordered one just like you are about to without trying it...anyway i stuck my pod XT in it...remade/edited my patches (they will need to be tweeked) and i am blown away by it. i was worried the one speaker would not have enough low end but man it sure does, this thing can sound real thick with the right settings on the pod. overall i'm 110% happy with mine and the only way i'd get rid of it is for the new 2x12 atomic!!

Man thats good to know...what settings do you use (models)? Im more into the hi gain stuff....how do they sound? If you dont mind, what did you give for it? Im curious about the market value....... Speaker? Like it? Im like 2 seconds away from buying.......thanks!

I've seen there's a review of the atomic reactor in this month issue of Guitarist. You can even hear it on their CD.

i play 98% in the high gain settings also...i only have one clean setting i use (as of now) since i play mostly metal and heavy punk. my main setting uses the quot;criminalquot; amp which is the 5150 and a recto. 4x12 cab with a ton of tweeking and it sounds great nice and thick with a nice edge to it. i also have a few mesa patches, a diezel herbert one, an engl powerball and a few others that i'll use now and again. you'll find...well, to my ears that the mesa patches can be a bit muffled sounding without some good tweeking of the EQ and a tubescreamer helps them alot to give them a good edge and bite. after some time spent tweeking you can get all the amps to sound good. the speaker sounds great for metal and for clean...the bass port helps that alot and makes it sound real thick even at low bedroom volumes. i got mine through ZZ sounds online along with the pod XT docking bay. if your into high gain stuff...buy the line 6 metal model pack for sure if you don't have it..it has TONS of great amps to try and well worth the $50 to get even more sounds from the pod/atomic combo. i also find it easiest to use the line 6 edit program on my computer with the amp/pod hooked up to work on patches since it gives you a good graphic base and makes things easy to see rather than visualize the EQ or distance of the mic from the cab etc in your head or look at the little digfital pod display screen.

Hey, I also have an atomic and think it's great. Totally brings a pod to life. Could you send me some your best patches for the atomic and any other ones you think I might like. AZ made a bunch for the atomic, but most of them aren't high gain. I can send those to you if you don't have them. If you don't have any saved, it's cool. Here's my email anyway

XSSIVE, if you like high gain stuff there's some real good ones here from : localhost/will have to do a quick sign up first, but it is definitely worth it. Just scroll down to the link Gorilla's Patches. They are all based around the metal model packs and are some of the best I've heard.
Also, I was going to ask you how you tweak your patches for the atomic compared to ones that sound good for recording. I'm still learning with the XT Live and I find you have to change patches a little for the atomic.

I guess I'll be the first to offer a differing opinion. I would definitely buy it from somewhere that has a trial period in case you don't like it. Give it a try, many like it. I'm one that didn't. I had a 45 day trial and sent it back after 37 days. Playing loud with a drummer the thing sounded awful-to me. I thought the pod xtl sounded amazing through headphones but I just couldn't reproduce that to my liking. Maybe that was the problem-it sounded so good thru phones that it made the Atomic sound inferior. But give it a try, it may work for you.

I think you're crazy because when I play the atomic and then use headphones at night, there's no comparison. The pod with headphones sounds like fizz. I have found out that it's all about tweaking. The atomic is only as good as its patch. I honestly havn't played it in a band situation, so the trial period is a good idea if you don't like it.

I have high gain patches in my complete set for the Atomic Presa. They sound stunning! I use 2 1x12's now, but I'll be adding the 2x12 as soon as it's available. I think I posted the link to them on my site not too long ago.

Just remember it will only sound as good as your patches. Garbage in Garbage out... You need to dial in your patches at the volume you'll be using them at.

DocRock... Here's the link to it at zZounds. They have a trial period.

It wasn't the patches. I downloaded Andy's patches. I went through the whole routine. 37 days. Before you call someone crazy, you better know what you're talking about. You said you haven't used it in a band situation so don't talk about something you don't know about firsthand. You probably have **** headphones because pods are designed first for recording.

I think you're getting a little too CRAZY serious here and I don't know how I would have quot;****ty headphones because pods are designed first for recording.quot; I actually got brand new headphones and spent quite a bit on them.

If your gonna hi-jack my thread to fight, take it somewhere else and quit acting like children!
