can a single lead pup like a Gibson 500t be wired to an on off switch??
Hey BR; Not sure what you mean. You can always just add a SPST switch in series with the hot lead to turn the pup on amp; off. Is that what you mean?

Artie, This axe has single knob (Vol) and 3 toggles. On/off for each pup. (hum/s/s)
The Stock pup has for wire lead and wires to the switch at a couple of points and one line goes to the central switch which has the line that runs to the Vol pot. My interim pickup, Gibson 500t (saving for a PATB2) has only one wire and the sheath is the ground. So I have to run it straight to the pot as I dont know what point on the switch to use. But, I cant cut it off now. Can I solder the separate wires that go to the different points to the one lead wire?
You can wire any pickup of any kind for on/off with any on/off switch. No big woop.
Just look at the way the other two pickups are wired and you can't go wrong. Wire the hot lead (the center wire of your 500T) to one side of the switch and nothing on the other side, with the main lead coming off the middle lug of the switch left as is. Dirt simple.
If you happen to wire it to the quot;wrongquot; side of the switch, it won't explode -- it just means the on position for this pickup will be the opposite of your other two switches but it will still work just fine. You can get used to it and leave it as is, or you can go back in and wire the hot lead from the 500T to the other side of the switch.
