Hello, I've thought about saving up for a Hughes amp; Kettner amp, and I just wanted to know whether the quality of their amps is good or bad. From what I've heard they should be good, but I'd like to hear some more opinions from people who own or have played one.

Hamp;K fan here

I've been a big fan of the Triamps for a while. Owned a Mk 1 Triamp for a while, but sold it because I wasn't able to use it's power. Now I'm kicking myself because I'm realizing that the breakup on it worked fine at lower volumes (I had it in my head, you HAVE to crank an amp all the way open )

I'm looking at the new Trilogy they just came out with. They say it's an quot;economically priced modelquot;, but the features make it look very appealing (easy MIDI control, a basic clean, crunch, lead all with boost options). I really liked the Triamp's versatility, but I felt that there were 3 channels that shined above the rest (1a, 2a, 3b).

It has a unique voicing that will take to some people and steer away others. The cleans have a nice shimmer (think of Fuel's quot;Hemorrhage (In my hands)quot;). 2a nailed Joe Walsh's quot;Life's Been Good to Mequot;. 3b is used by some of today's modern rock acts like Three Days Grace (I used the channel all the time for leads, which it excelled at)

I currently got a Hamp;K Tube 20 as a practice amp. and this is one sweet amp. Can do almost anything. Great cleans and very good drive. EL 84's always sound good to me.

A friend of mine got the Hamp;K TriAmp Mk. I, and he is very pleased with it.

Thanks for your opinions, looks like I'm gonna save up for it. The one I want is the Warp T, it is a brutal mother****er, I've seen people calling it a quot;Bogner at half the pricequot;, just go here and listen;
from : localhost/sounds evil when distorted, nice when clean. But the reason why I like it is the distortion though.

Just listened to the TriAmp MK2 at the same site, it sounds nice too.

Hamp;K builds some very good amps. My buddy sells them in his store, and they've been bullet proof. The whole Hamp;K line from the little solid states, to the tube amps, sound good. I've been considering a Puretone head.

Sprinter

Myself and the other guitarist in my band are both fans and use Attax heads. None is better than H and K in quality, price, and sound. I also would suggest the Attax series since they are so cheap on ebay and worth SO much more. That amp with all the midi and channels and junk though, that strongly flashes GIMMICK! to me.

Can you get the Attax series from new or do you have to find a used one?

I was gassing for the MKII Triamp the tone is just dripping off of that thing wow, I saw a german guitarplayer perform with it and his sound wasn't anything short of incredible. The downside is they're mucho expensive so I don't see myself getting one any time soon because of that. The Warp is pretty cheap though I've never heard it. The ZenTera is said to be the best modelling amp today, so I might be looking into one of those as well

The Attax series has been discontinued. You will have to look on ebay but you must take these things into thought if getting one!
1: There are two version, one is covered in blue fuzzy stuff, one is just a regular ol looking and with a silver plate thing. The blue covered one's ROCk, the others sound like a rock vibrating
2: If you can, these amps were made for RockDriver speakers. Get them if you can.

Engl = Porsche
Hamp;K = BMW

In short

Very nice, well built amps. I find them voiced a little bright for my tastes, but that may what you're into.
