So I've been on a hunt for a new amp...kinda. I know that I'm gonna make a purchase of either a new guitar or a new amp, and I'm definitely leaning towards the amp (BTW, I wouldn't be making said 'purchase' until later on in the winter.).
So what I'm looking for...
Well, I want something small and tube (around 15 watts is about right). I play a lot of styles, ranging from jazz to Stones/Black Crowes-style blues-rock. As you can see in my signature, I now have a Blues Jr. I want something that's a little closer to boutique-type things (but I don't intend on getting a Matchless...). I'd like to spend under 6-700 area, but to make things simple, lets just say under $1000.
EDIT: Change that to under $750-ish, and get rid of boutique-ish. Higher-end producition line is what I'm looking at.
Any suggestions? Thanks in advance, fellas.
18watt marshall?
They'd be that cheap?

Might look into some of peavey's classic stuff maybe.
For more than bluesy gain you will need a pedal tho.

I hate to say it, but you won't get a quot;boutiquequot;-ish tube amp for under a grand. Maybe if you shop used.

Hah, yeah. You had me excited there for a second and then I realized they'd probably cost too much. :-(
I've tried some Peavey Classic stuff. I liked them a bit, but they weren't amazing. I took my BJ over. At that point, it was truly personal preference.
What I was considering is getting one of the DRRIs and getting something like a Fulldrive or a nicer OD pedal to push it a bit. Thoughts??

Fret, I'm aware. Not necessarily boutique, but high-end production stuff. The Dr. Z Carmen Ghia, Rivera combo models (some of them) etc. all go for well under a grand used. That's what I meant, I guess I didn't know how to word it at the time.

Yeah, like I said you'll have to shop used .

Thoughts??That's a good idea.I prefer pedals to most amp's natural distortion, if I'm going for more than a mild breakup. (Unless you have some amp that cost more than the soul of a virgin)
And remember, the peaveys need to be CRANKED, need to get them EL84 to distort on the clean channel. Then all will be well. Froget the lead channel, its a fuzzy dry ****pit.
Don't laugh, but check out the Crate Palomino line- pretty cool little class A amps.

I'd still take a peavey classic series over it, like a delta blues.
I know you're looking for a 15 watt amp, but have you tried one of the new Vox AC30's?

I love Vox tone, but I'm afraid that they may be a) a bit too big, unless I get the head (which is 100% possible) and also b) too expensive (new, the head even goes for $900.) I know I said under $1000, but that should probably change to something like under $700. Under 1 seems like a bit too much, now that I look at it. Thanks for the suggestion though.
