In a mahogany bodied, maple neck super strat?

are you looking for something for cleans, distorted leads, a combination of the two, of something else?

yeah that's a major thing I left out didn't I? Versatility is key. My first choice would be a '59 or jazz but I'm wondering if there might be something better. I usually tend to go with paf or vintage voiced neck pickups.

Hmmm, if you're looking for something a little different why not switch over to Larry's selection at Dimarzio? You could go for an Air Norton(breathes great in a super strat), a PAF Pro(Joe's neck bucker tone), the regular PAF(little more conservative than the 59), Or even a Humbucker from Hell if you want to go for something really defined and bordering on single coil brightness.

In the Duncan catologue you could give the Full Shred a go, great clean tone (listen to any cleans from Opeth's Deliverance Album) and handles distortion like a champ, Pearly gates neck model may be up your alley, although it can get a little harsh. If you want something less agressive then maybe the Alnico 2 pro is what you want as well.

Mull all those over a bit.

If you´re looking for dark, ultrasustained leads with a searing, banshee like wail, regardless of clean or distorted, as well as a cool faux-single coil, nothing beats the JB. It can get muddy if you´re not careful....but if you ARE, you can do pretty much anything with it

For general all around use I´d go with a ´59, the maple neck removes a bit of bass compared to mahogany, and something tells me you´re using a strat scale, so quot;boominessquot; shouldnt be a problem.... The Jazz would make sure that it isn´t, but I find the ´59 more versatile.

But to me it sounds like you´re looking for something quot;differentquot;.... The JB is something different for most players, and I haven´t had anyone try it in my rig and not really like it..... but whether or not it´s gonna be a keeper for you is a different question entirely

The distortion neck is a very over looked neck pickup. Its a great neck bucker!!!!

JB neck = in-****ing-sane.

As for dimarzio, those are going in my next project. A Fred in the bridge and and Paf Pro in the neck. Once I get my carvin back a jazz neck and JB bridge are going in. So I was looking for something a little different.

I think I'll try out the '59 for starters. It's one of my favorite neck pickups anyway. I've never tried it in a 22 fret guitar though.

I love PAF types in the neck. The warmth, they are so pretty.

yeah me too. Regardless of pickup type I usually go for something hotter for the bridge and something vintage sounding in the neck, whether it be singles or humbuckers.
