For the bridge position of my uncle's Yamaha SG. He plays 70's classic and heavy rock. Which do you think? Or any other suggestions?
Thanks,
-Benja
depends. i had a c5/pgn combo in my sg. loved it.
what amp?
I have a PG /C5 hybrid in my bridge. err.
Sorry it took a while. The ex rang. God, she's really learnt to talk recently.
He's just got a cheap 10w practise amp at the minute and I don't think that's going to change anytime soon. His two sisters are paying for the up-grade as a birthday present. I know he doesn't need it but it's a nice idea and I said I'd take care of it. I'm also completely refitting the electronics and a few pieces of hardware. I'm just stuck on the this toos up between the two pickups.
Depends. I love the PGb in a LP. It is a bit bright, but it can cover a lot of range. Keep in mind this pickup is not for everyonà
Continued from previous post:
The C5 is a friendlier pickup than the PG. It works well in a wider range of axes than does the PG. If your uncle likes round highs, neutral mids, and big lows, then he'll like the C5.
C5
not that the PG is not great but for a SG the C5 fits that guitar a little more
you may want to consider the CC(alnico II version) which rocks in a SG
Is the guitar one of the mahogany body/ maple cap Yamaha SG/SBG series?
C-5. It's like a hot 59, which most ears, young and old, can both appreciate.
It's a very safe bet for a gift. I've never heard it sound bad in any guitar, although it sounds best in mahogany/maple.
