I traded a pup to a guy a while ago for an old PAF and it has only half the quot;patent applied forquot; sticker left on it. It is beat up and I compared it to a friends PAFs from a mid 60s SG and it is exactly the same. I want to know when they stopped making them with the stickers? Do they still have it? I'm not a Gibson player. Thanks. - Rob
Hey Rob, to answer your question in one word yes. Gibson tried to make the 57 classics as close to the original as they could. They have the maple spacers, 2 conductors, and A2 bar mags. In addition the have the same style bass plate and an identical sticker.
Man, I wish I could borrow that pickup from you for a week, to compare it to the Anniversary Seth I just bought. It would be very interesting to note any differences in tone, just as an experiment almost none of us would be able to do.
Thanks Luke Duke. That means this PAF could be a recent one that has had lots of wear and tear OR it could be an ancient, much sought after , original. I doubt the guy who traded it to me would have let go of an old one however! Thanks again. - Rob
