I'm moving into a new house, and may not be able to keep my wall-o-huge-amps, due to space and ugliness factors. I was thinking these three would make a cool house-friendly setup, for jamming, recording, and even live work maybe. Basically, a cheap 2-12quot; cab, Crate's new tiny power block, and the Vox Tone Lab. Any feedback from the crew here?

Other than replacing the Vox with a PodXT (mainly because I'm more familiar with it), I think I'd use that exact setup. Looks good to me.
I am curious if anyone here has direct experience with the Crate Power Block, because I am interested in a similar setup myself.
I'm going out of my mind right now because I screwed up my Vox Valvetronix head and it's been in the shop for a month! I never realized how much I'd miss that amp. I have a bunch of good tube amps, but can't use them in my apartment, so I bought the Vox Valvetronix AD60 head for only $420 at Sam Ash a couple years ago.
It's turned out to be the most useful home practice rig I've ever used, mostly because I can use it like a Tonelab or a practice amp. The variable wattage, built in tuner, and headphone out makes it the perfect bedroom amp.
Instead of trying to mishmash a bunch of pieces together, just buy a Valvetronix head, but use it on a high quality cab, like you would with your tube amps. They sound great once you dial them in. Putting OD models in front of the amp models is awesome, because you can use that extra gain structure to morph any of the amps into any tonal character you want. The key to good modeling tones is using a cabinet that's better than the ones Vox or L6 sell you.
GJ - I feel the same, I picked up a line 6 hd147 recently just to resell, got it for a good price, and a lot of the tones are killer and sound good at low volumes, same features as the vox as far as headphones, etc. too. Sounds nice through my legacy cab.
Dankerella - I seem to have the opposite problem. I can't wait to get into a house so I can crank my amps. lol
