What would you expect this to sound like? One is A5 and one is A2. Both low/moderate output. I may make one, and install 250K pots with it (in a wood Steinberger).

At the risk of pointing out the obvious, you realize that if you build a hybrid, there will only be one magnet - either an A2 or an A5. Since both pups have very similar DC resistance, you may just end up with a 59 or an A2P.

It might not produce the results you want.

Yea I know, I was just thinking that the '59 might give a little more meat?

Maybe, but I doubt it. I imagine the quot;meatquot; comes from the A5 mag.
Also, it wouldn't surprise me if the 59 and AIIP were the same coils with different mags - ala, the JB/DD pups.

The Alnico Pro II and the 59 are not the same coil... they may both be 42 guage wire, but there are other factors that come into the tone equation such as the insulation on the wire and the wind pattern...
The APII/59 is a GREAT Hybrid for the NECK position when made with coils from the NECK position models... I would not recommend using NECK position coils to make a BRIDGE pickup though.
