I just ordered some SD humbucker pup's for my Ibanez Artist and I'm thinking that while I'm at it I may as well replace the stock wiring and pots. The guitar has the typical LP controls -- 2 tone, 2 vol and 3-way switch and shielded cavity. I'd like to get the most out of my new A2P/PG set so can any one recommend some good electronic components to go with them and also where to buy?
One more question, what is the typical cap value and how do they effect tone?
Thanks,
Mark
You cant go wrong with CTS pots, a switchcraft switch and some sprague orange drop caps. Also some vintage braided and sheilded cable is a good buy. All of these can be bought at either for international purchases, or for UK.
Typical cap value for HB's is either 0.22 or 0.47. I'm not too certain what difference in tone they make, its something to do with treble roll off but im not too sure.
Excellent.
Thanks, Matt.
