GAS has been destroying me lately. Fortunately for my bank account, I've not bought anything yet. My two latest desires came earlier this week. First I stopped into the commission-sales-chain-store in town to see if there was anything new, and they had a used Hamp;K Triamp half stack for $1800. I played it for a bit and really fell in love. With six channels, I can get enough flexibility so i don't feel shorted (since I'm used to my GT). And they all sounded really good, IMO. The matching cabinet was a bit beat up, but looked solid and sounded fine.
Then there was a big sale at the non-commission-sales-chain-store in town (which I go to much more frequently) and they had the Genz Benz El Diablo head/G-Flex 2x12 (which I have really been digging since I first plugged into it) on sale for $1350. I really wanted to walk away with it, but I just couldn't bring myself to drop $1500 (close to it after tax) on an amp that day.
ah well.
I'm in a post-GAS attack phase. It reached a fever pitch, purchase and play... Now its that quiet after the storm... Be strong, if it doesn't pass, give in to it, it's meant to be..

You sound like my friend - he wasn't going to let me out of there without the GB. Fortunately I got away with strings, picks, and a cable.
narrow escape...
good for u that u got away. GAS can suck bank accounts dry.
G.A.S is like being an alcoholic once you have it, it's hard to shake. But the problem is their are so many axe's and stuff. Trying to explain it to your wife or girlfriend is impossible. Good luck!
What's G.A.S???

i've learned to control it, and use gear with a high resale value. This way, you can have some collateral for future GAS. Last year i went all out and bought my strat, my 63 blonde fender head, and 2 jbl d130f's. I'll be keeping the fender but i'm going to retire it in favor of a cheaper, new combo with reverb so i dont have to worry about vintage gear crapping out on me or having idiot bandmates carry it and do unthinkable things to it.
My current GAS is for an ampeg reverberocket 2x12 50 watter. LOW resale value, but for that same reason i can grab it for under 700 used, and that means ill be getting a quot;trade inquot; with the sale of my 2 d130f's- i can buy it without shelling out too much extra cash.
I think all this modern gear and excess bull is deteriorating our music addiction syndrome in favor of expensive gear. My dad was telling me that he used to run cheap peavey VTX amps for his bass and his brother's guitar and the band always sounded great and was booked for gigs.
I'd rather have fun doing gigs with my bandmates and friends than worrying about having enough cash to buy a 2000 watt channel switcher head and cabinet.
They should sell a GAS patch!
I got an E/A Takamine Classical on the way it appears ... which is great since I need one to start recording a number of tracks
