So how much a difference in sound quality is there in different models and makes of cabs? For example: Does a Marshall 2x12 with v30's sound any different than a Mesa 2x12 with v30's? Apply this question to other configurations and brands.

There's more of a difference with open back vs closed back and 412 vs 212. Cabinets are the last link in the chain. They reproduce what's being given to them.

I can tell you from experience that a mesa recto 2x12 with v30s sounds a lot fatter than a mashall 2x12 with v30s. Much of this has to do with the larger size and heavier construction of the mesa. Of course, the mesa weighs 70 pounds...

I own three cabinets presently, and all three serve different purposes...

#1 Flagg systems 7-ply birch sealed, deep-backed 4 X12 custom-made for me in the mid 80s, which was originally loaded G12T-75s, but now has v30s.

#2 Marshall 1960a loaded with G12T-75s.

#3 Mesa Boogie 2X12 open-back with loaded with Greenbacks...

If I had to choose one it would be the Flagg cab (EVH used these cabs back then), because it gets a unique tone with a punch like nothing else I ever played.I could add some more critique, but it appears I'm only allowed to add glowing praise of products at this point...LOL

what are the dimesnions of the Flagg system? (actually the inside cavity)

Every cab has a distinct sound, but it usually has to do with the wood, the density, the resonance, the size, and the speakers. Lower ohms will be brighter and louder. Higher ohms will have less volume, but less harshness.

The 'you get what you pay for' rule usually applies.
