I need an outboard reverb (or 2!)...Im not really looking for the built in Fender reverb (I have a Twin and it has reverb) and Im not looking for a Fender outboard they are very cool units but a bit too splashy for what I need right now...Im looking for something nice a greasy, something with character and soul...now, with that in mind...HIT ME!!!

I just sold a old Premier 90 Outboard reverb unit. The one I had was in disrepair,But it seemed to add a Lil' gain to the signal. It's fair to say it
sounded greasy.

Holier Grail, 3 good verbs, long and short versions of each...

sounded greasy.DAMN!!! Thats so funny you say that...my Dad used to have 2 different Premier model 90 outboard Reverbs and that's the sound I'm chasing in my head...I started to used that as an example but was afraid that nobody would know what I was talking about!

well...Im talking about a reverb that is not really nice and clean...kind of rude, and maybe a little ratty sounding. The Premier(s) that my Dad sued to have, were all tube outboard and had a little bit of a funky distortion in the reverb...they were nice and greasy!

hmmm let me play with it more tomorrow and see if i can hear and grease in the verb hehe. i only used it for a bit on a low setting just to fill out my high gain sound as i always do with the peavey since it has a built in verb.

1 on the Holy Grail or Holier Grail. In the loop or straight in, it's the best verb pedal I've used.

If you want greasy, try some Astroglide.......then come back and play yer guitar! LOL

On the cheap, the Danelectro Spring King sounds like something you might want to try.

For ratty reverb and short delay sounds, one of my favorite tricks involves my Boss VF-1's tape delay sim. I set it to a short delay, crank the input gain and lower the high end response on the repeats.

It sounds pretty lo-fi and tanky, great for old shool blues licks.

Guitar Player recently reviewed a tweed-covered one that looked really cool.

Peavey Valverb (it's a rack unit with Reverb and Trem) are supposedly really good, too.
